"Y'know what? Why don't you and your little girlfriend go wander down your safe tunnel. You can go walk down to the pits of hell, why don't you, and I'll get your brother out of here. It won't be our fault if you're stuck down here, maybe we'll even send a rescue team. Y'know, if we're feeling charitable. Mithy at least, needs medical attention before his leg is permanently in a funk. So why don't we talk about who exactly's on their high horse now?" Ren put down Mithy for a second, just enough to free a hand and grab his knife, severing the rope where it bound Mithos and Mana. He picked Mithy up and glared.
"Enjoy your trip, now you can either follow us, or die." Ren said, and then turned on his heel and proceeded down the older, darker and danker tunnel. No, it didn't please him much either, but he'd find the source of that wind and get them both free. He was responsible for two lives now... it wasn't like he'd make this decision without thinking. Not when the two people in question were himself, and Mithos...

Mana watched them go for a bit. The pit of her stomach turned. Not because of her head this time but because she was worried for her brother. She said a silent prayer, hoping that he would be safe.
"FINE," she yelled behind him, "But you had better take care of my brother. If something happens to him, then will have a reason to kill you, personally."
She huffed a bit and then turned down the right cave. Her instincts were all jumbled up. Normally, being the daughter of a pirate, she had a fantastic sense of direction. She could tell which way to go almost immediately. But since she hit her head, she was begining to doubt herself as the lights grew dim down the tunnel.
"Well," she said walking to her chosen tunnel, "You are free to follow them El, but I can't help but feel that we will see them agian. With our luck, these tunnels go to exactly the same place and we were both right."

Mithos cast his sister a worried glance then sighed heavily as he and Ren set off. "...Less time we're in these tunnels the better." He mumbled, having felt increasingly sick since the cave-in, and not just because of his leg. He worried about the girls, though - after all, they were girls. Normally, this being Mana, it wouldn't bother him, but in the state she was in... No, no more what-if's.
Ellie sighed heavily, watching Mana worriedly as she followed. "More than likely." She mumbled, falling quickly into step with her friend, taking one of Mana's arms and placing it around her shoulders. "No arguments. You can't walk straight, and the quicker we get out of here, the quicker you can get your head seen to."

Mana blushed heavily, thanking the darkness for once, and looked away with a slight frown. Why was this bothering her so much? It was just the kind of person El was. Personally, Mana never thought if she ever needed anyone in a point of weakness, it was Mithos. And it didn't happen all that often. But this was an entirely different experiance for her. In the end, she had to rely on someone else besides family to get by.
"I'm not normally this weak you know," she said still unsure why she felt she had to expain to herself to the girl next to her. Maybe she hit her head harder than she thought.
They went through the cave. It was unusually quiet for a cave. There was no percipitation. No bats. Nothing. This kind of made Mana uneasy. She tried to stay as alert as she could and wished she could have her sword. Then she might have been a little more confident in slaying any monsters that would come their way. The ones she couldn't help but feel were watching them right now, waiting.
What a predicament, she thought with a sigh.

The lack of sight, smell, or ability to touch anything had Ren relying on more senses than he usually did. The darkness was filled with the dull pitter-pat of Ren's two feet, and two pairs of mismatched breaths. The darkness just went on and on, the blue glow almost a painful substitute for nothingness. The wind never picked up very much, though every so often it would blow around his loose hairs. As time ticked, more and more of Ren's hairs fell from their previously cemented positions.
"Oi, wait for me a moment. This tunnel's not ending anywhere soon and my arms are sore." Ren said, finally breaking the mind-numbing silence. They'd long since lost the echos of the girls down another trail. Ren needed to stop, rest, stretch, then he could keep going. Ren set Mithos down and sat next to him, flexing his arms which had been in teh same position, clutching Mithy close, for who knew how long. He rolled his sholders, then groaned when he heard another rumble.
This one came almost /too/ close to hitting them. No more than twenty feet away, a giant beast broke through one of the walls, rock debris scattering this way and that. In Ren's selfless attempt to stop one of the bigger rocks from hitting Mithos, a fist-sized one flew by and conked Ren a good one. He saw stars for a moment before adjusting his vision to watch a giant mole-like creature turn and run down the path Mithy and him would have been on had they not paused to rest. "...What the hell was that?" Ren tenderly rubbed his forehead, where a nice egg was forming. He got up and peered into the cavern the mole had come from.
The chamber was much more well-illuminated than the caves, the glowing blue crystals embedded in the walls as well as the ceiling, and the floor. It was circular, in such a perfect way that it had to be man-made. Inscriptions lined the walls. In a fit of awe, Ren came over and hauled Mithy into the room with him, setting him down on what looked to be a stone sarcophagus. "I suppose that this... answers our questions about the cave." Ren said, slumping back against the sarcophagus, and consequently, Mithy as well. His eyes scanned the walls, which were inscribed in chinese... or at the very least, a primary form of japanese. Looked like mandarin to Ren, though. The walls told the story that they'd earlier been briefed on before entering. The Tale of Two Lovers. "Well. Guess the legend's true. Or somebody went through some hell to trick us."

Mithos sighed heavily, glad to be in a room where he couldn't see the ceiling. Despite being relatively fearless in most things, the englishman was hugely claustrophobic, and being underground didn't help. With a grimace, he looked to his leg, which was quickly swelling. "Legends are just normal stories that get... Exaggerated over the years." He said simply, then hopped off the sarcophagus onto his good leg. This seemed to be a bad idea, however, as he swayed dangerously.
-----
"Yeah, I know." Ellie replied quietly, shaking her head a little. "You, your brother and Ren are easily the strongest people I've ever met, no doubt, and I always thought I was pretty strong." She said with a small smile, keeping her eyes ahead, although there was nothing to see.

"Well I allow you to hang out with me, " she said in a joking voice, "that means you are strong enough to please me."
She laughed a bit. Their predicament was so out of this world that all Mana could do was laugh to keep from getting angry or going insane. The air was easily becoming heavier and heavier and the tunnel seemed to go on forever. It also seemed to be getting darker, which Mana hated most of all. Her keen ears were picking up sounds from everywhere. Sounds she didn't like. She REALLY wished she had her sword right now.
But at least it was dark enough where she could finally use her "sight unseen" technique that she and Mithos had been working on in the past few weeks if she had to protect Ellie and herself. Mana was determined to become one of the great fighters of the world and in order to do that, she had to rely on all of her senses to be equally as strong as one another. Most people fight with their eyes and ears. But recently Mana was trying to develop a new technique using darkess. She would put an eyepatch tightly over each eye and strengthen her senses of smell and sound to hunt her adversary. She was also coming up with a new sort of combat shoe that was virtually soundless in any sort of battle arena. It was coming along nicely, and now Mana was kind of thankful that she was doing that. Otherwise they would have been fucked.
Mana closed her eyes and allowed Ellie to lead. Being that her head felt like it was going to blow up, she figured it couldn't hurt to lean on someone else for a bit. There was no one around after all.
They walked in silence for a while. All that could be heard was the sounds of thier footsteps, their breathing, and an occasional bat or two. It was really a very serene moment. But Mana started to think. It was all she could do until they found out where they were going. Just randomly, a thought popped into her head.
"Why did you persue me," Mana asked Ellie slowly, " I was so rude to you, and occasionally I still am rude to you and yet you are still around. Why is that? Are you a sucker for abuse?"

"Mithy!" Ren yelled at him as he tried standing, on one leg no less. He came over to him and grabbed him, leading him over to the wall and pressing him up against that. He folded his arms like a parent who was trying to teach their child manners.
"There. You can lean against the wall if you don't want to sit. Hopping would be stupid, if you fell, you'd only damage your leg more. And then I'd be the one to blame for it, too. Don't do such stupid things." Ren said with a huff, then leaned up against the wall beside Mithos. "I promise, i'll get us out of here as fast as possible. I don't know how quick that will be, but we will make it out alive. Out of this hell hole. I'm not quite... fond of caves, either, you know. So we'll just have to both get out of here."
Ren couldn't help but lean a little closer to Mithos. Maybe it was the bump on his head, maybe it was these crazy caves, or maybe it was just the steadily dropping temperature in these already cold caves that made him scoot nearer to the closest being in the room. He just knew they'd make it out, but, he had no idea when. After all, they were already down one, and if Ren got hurt, it was all over.

"Sorry." Mithos apologised quietly, staring up at the ceiling with his violet eyes. "I guess I'm just being a burden." He said with a sigh, sliding to the floor. "I hate feeling like this. Like I can't do anything." He muttered, sighing again and rubbing at his eyes. "Why are you so concerned for me, anyway? It's not like you need me, or anything."
-----
Ellie laughed quietly, smiling at Mana as she cast her a sideways glance. "I'm your friend. Besides, that first lesson? I couldn't just let you wallow by yourself. Everyone needs a friend, even if it's only for a few years, you know? You looked like... You could use one, that's all. Mithos seems to make friends pretty easy. You two aren't really brother and sister, are you?"

Ren looked down (for a change) at Mithos, his golden orbs glinting. He wasn't a burden. Well he was, but, not in the sense that he thought he was. A heavy sack of flower to carry, indeed he was, but never once did Ren consider dropping him and fleeing on his own power. No... he couldn't even begin to bring himself to do that. But why? Ren went for the first thing that came to mind. He felt like he owed him.
"It's the least I can do." Ren said simply, before elaborating. "You told me once you lost your father to my family, and whether it was someone under our command or acting in their own rendition of our will, the point is that you were hurt by the Tao. Whether or not you're bitter, makes no difference. As the head of the Tao, I bear everyone's sins from my family. And i've been trying to repent them all so we can head in the direction this family was destined for... not the dark side of history." Ren slumped down next to Mithos, giving his legs a rest from standing.
"If that sounds like a load of bull to you, fine. Then maybe it's for your sister. I probably owe her more than anything... since her bitterness is most definitly the fault of my family. So maybe if I save her brother she'll finally let go of some of that? God that's cheezy. But I don't know what else to do about it." Ren grumbled and slouched. "Never tell her that I said I owe her either." Ren gave him a short glare. "Don't even /think/ about it. I'll repay her in my own way."

<I just wanted to take this break to say: AWWWWWWWWW!!!!!! *Mana will so love Ren eventually now. One way or another. XDDD>
"Mithos," she said quietly, briefly wondering how he was doing. She knew that Ren was perfectly capible of taking care of him. If there was two things that were sure about Ren it was both his strength and affection for Mithos. Those she could count on to save them both. But at the mention of his name, she couldn't help but feel a pang for him. She already missed him. And she had kinda felt bad about this whole thing. If he felt Ren was a good guy and wanted to be his friend, she should have been more understanding.
"He has done a lot for me," she said quietly, "I owe him my happiness, litterally. I suppose you could say we are not blood related, no. But our bond...it goes deeper than blood. He is my brother and no one is going to tell me otherwise. I love him so much. Him and especially my Uncle. He took me in for the sake of my father and both of them have been so patient with me. There isn't anything I wouldn't do for them...and I suppose because of this I have come to realize that maybe I should take it easy for Ren. I mean, it really wasn't his fault that my father died, so it is not fair to hold him responsible for his familys mistakes. He did say he was trying to repent for them so it shows promise. I'm sorry to bog you down with all this, but I need to ask you...do you think I have been a complete scummy bitch who had no right to act as she did? I can't help but feel...for Mithos's sake...a small pang of regret for how I have treated Ren. Well, for how I have treated everyone. I'm suprised...and very thankful that you still have faith in me at least. Thank you El. I probably would be even more of a bitch if you weren't around. Your friendship, even though it is new, means more to me than you will ever know. You see, at my schools in England, people mostly feared me because I was more boy than girl. I could kick some serious ass if I wanted to and people knew that. This was unnatural for a girl and therefore most didn't bother to hang with me. If I didn't have Mithos, I really don' t know what would have happened to me. At least here, with your friendship, I don't feel as big of a freak as I have been made to feel over the years. I really am not trying to make this sound like a weak ass sob story. I am merely pointing out that even though I love my brother, I am really greatful to know that there is someone else who is will actually talk to me without wanting to start something. Man, I feel weird. Again, Im sorry for bogging you down with all of this. I'm normally not this open with people I've only known a short time. But somehow I feel I can open up to you. You know?"
Mana felt funny. Maybe it was something in the cave, but she didn't feel as mad as she did before. This was perhaps why she is saying all of these things. It was that or something was bringing out the deep sorrows within her. Whatever it was, she felt a lot easier about certain things. She felt more relaxed and a little loopy. It could have have been the bump on her head too. But whatever the reason the bump or the cave, she had not felt so ease about things since Mithos had set her free of her sorrows all those years ago. She gave a big sigh as a wave of dizziness hit her. She stumbled a bit and ended up crashing into Ellie and knocking them both down onto the ground. Mana blushed profusely and pushed herself off of the young blond immediately. She reached out a hand, not looking at her and blushing.
"Sorry about that El," she said, "I really hope we get where we are going soon. Im starting to think you are right about that whole 'worse off' thing."

Mithos smiled quietly, placing an arm around Ren's shoulders. "Naturally. Think of it this way - Now you're even. She said... That she owes you for that time we all got stuck after hours. I won't say a word." He promised, looking up at the ceiling still. He'd probably fall asleep soon, no doubt, and it probably wasn't a bad idea.
----
Ellie smiled as she got to her feet, shaking her head. "No worries." She replied shortly, brushing herself down swiftly. "You should be more careful, you know. You did yourself enough damage when you cracked your head." She said, slipping her friend's arm over her shoulders once more and placing her own arm firmly about Mana's waist. "So you don't fall over again." She explained shortly.

[[since this is supposed to be the super-uber tomb hub thing where they all meet up anyways, sleep is fine too. ;D *snickle*]]
Ren blushed lightly as Mithy wrapped an arm about his sholders. It reminded him slightly of Yoh... but this one was more powerful. Mithy's arm nearly went the full way around him, Yoh's was just about the length of his own. Mithy had a stronger manly embrace, yoh's was weak and carefree, just enough to let you know he was there. Mithy's arm demanded it's presence be known.
His head darted up to look at Mithos who was half asleep. Not a bad idea, Ren wagered, since he'd been in favor of the whole "stay where you are and wait" in the first place. Their chances were more slim, being further in, but they were also in the most well-lit portion of the caves. They weren't going to be in any worse condition if they rested a few hours... Ren was half asleep too. A combonation of the dark, and over-exerting himself to carry Mithy all this way. "Until she gives up her vendetta against Chinese people, we're still not even. Hate is a terrible burden to bear." Ren sighed, his slouch shifting towards Mithos now that his arm was around him. "Thank you... anyways... for your concern." It came out choppy, as if manners were not Ren's forte. Indeed, he wasn't very used to thanking people. So very few actually deserved thanks.
"If you want to sleep, feel free to do so. Maybe, someone will find us while we're asleep. If not, we'll just keep going when we wake. There's no use travelling when tired." Ren said so, his golden eyes fluttering shut as he did. The bump on his head was probably putting him to sleep too. His body just needed some time to heal. As he drifted off, his hand subconciously fisted Mithy's shirt, to keep him from falling down all the way to the cold floor. He was still vigilant, even when asleep, and he could spring into action if anything came by again, be it giant mole or otherwise. But still, his body was at rest even if his mind never was.

This had to be a record setting day for Mana. She had never blushed so much in her life. This she was sure of. Yet somehow this girl kept getting the best of her. It wasn't just the fact that somehow her arm around Mana's waist made Mana feel better, but it was the fact that she did care so much. She's never had that from anyone but Mithos or Tom. It was unusual for her to feel so strongly about someone she just met.
Perhaps it's just the cave, she thought, Maybe the legends are acutally true. You do get goofy around here. And hitting my head probably didn't help much.
"It has been a long time since I felt I could trust anyone outside of family," she said, "But I think...today that is changing. I feel...I can trust you El. It's...a nice feeling. Thank you."
She smiled softly. Her headache was starting to subside and she slowly began to become herself again. But she also had a lot of time to reflect on herself. She now felt she had a good handle on life and was ready to start letting people in. She would have to eventually anyway. Why not start early?
Mana was slowly starting to come to her senses, which made it even more hell for her. She was starting to feel exhausted and it seemed they weren't getting any closer to an ends. She sighed as they kept walking. She didn't want to be the first to say anything. They would keep walking until her sense of self drowned. They had to be coming to...something soon. A room, a fork, a bend. Something! It had seemed like this all took forever.

Mithos smiled, nodding simply as he watched Ren drift off to sleep, idly musing on how damn adorable the small chinese boy looked asleep. On him. These thoughts were clearly the blood loss and pain and claustrophobia talking, mind you. Clearly. The englishman just smiled softly, drifting off to sleep himself in short order.
-----
Ellie smiled softly, shaking her head a little as she spotted a faint light - well, moreso than the dank glow. "It's nothing, really. Everyone needs somebody to lo- trust." She said, blushing slightly. "But hey, look - there." She pointed to the entrance, smiling gratefully. "Something different, eh?"

Mana cast a sideways glance at Ellie. That was weird. It almost sounded like....nah. It was the air in the cave, it was warm and moist. It probably made people think weird...or something. Then she looked ahead. There was a dim glow. It almost looked like.
"I know what that is," Mana said with a flat look.
They walked ahead a bit furthur. They endered a large room that kinda made Mana's heartrate go up. It was a tomb. The tomb of the lovers to be exact. The large murel was breath taking and the sarcophogus...well Mana wasn't about to go near that. She looked over to the source of the light. She had to double take. Ren was sleeping...on Mithos? And he had a small smile on his face? This was just too...
"Weird," she whispered as she smiled at El and broke away," I knew we would find some queer things in this cave but not this queer."
Mana sniggered and sat down next to Mithos, thankful to be off her feet. She was definately tired, so she understood where Ren was coming from. She smirked at Mithos and gave him a little poke.
"Im glad to see you are okay," she whispered with a little snicker, "But cozy much?"

Mithos shifted a little, but didn't wake, as much asleep on Ren as Ren was on him. Ellie giggled quietly, placing a hand on Mana's shoulder. "Leave them, eh? Both look like they could use it." She said, smiling softly as she hopped up onto the sarcophagus, totally unphased as she studied her broken fingers in the new light.

Mana smiled. She leaned over and touched his cheek with her nose.
"Sweet dreams Mithos," she whispered.
Then she got up slowly, getting a bit of a head rush as she did. But she fought it off and wend over just behind the sarcophogus to where the murel was. It was large and beautiful.
"But so sad," Mana whispered out loud, "To be cut out of love so soon in life. That is why I hate Romeo and Juliet. They both had to die? Common."
She blushed a bit and looked back at Ellie.
"Sorry," she said with a goofy grin, "Thinking out loud....er...do you like sitting on dead people?"

Ellie laughed, shaking her head a little. "Doesn't bother me." She replied simply, looking at the mural over her shoulder. "It was only a story, you know. It is sad, though... Feuding families, and all..." The american girl trailed off, shaking her blonde head softly and staring up at the ceiling, swinging her feet a little.

Mana looked at her. She didn't know why, but in the dim glow of the light, Ellie looked beautiful. Almost surreal like...well...an angel. Mana shook her head. What a rediculous notion! They had to find a way to get out of the cave, or Mana was going to lose it.
She walked around to where Ellie was sitting to look at the sarcofagus (I know I can't spell!). It was large and very elegantly carved. But it seemed to have a sad look about it. As she tried to get up the stairs she tripped on one stair, still not fully in control of her brain.
