+++++++++++++++++
Personality: Cold and unwelcoming. Trained from childhood to become the world’s next Shaman King, he lacked the basic experience OF a childhood. He’s mature but short-tempered, and highly logical. He’s technology inept and able to live off the basic necessities of life, though he’s really, exceptionally rich.
Biography: After an unpleasant childhood of torture and never-ceasing training and discipline, Ren became a cold individual bent on destroying the humans he’d been taught to hate so much, and clean the earth in the process. He’s highly skilled with a sword, glaive, daggers and nunchaku, and his favourite is the second of the four. He couldn’t shoot a gun to save his life, he dislikes the weapon in general (it takes so little to learn to use one correctly), and he was never disciplined in the ways of a bow and arrow.
After a bout of fierce shaman fight, the Shaman Fight in Tokyo as it was called, Ren softened slightly to the ways of the world. He came to understand that humans were not dirty, and the terrible ones were those who could not accept how strong human compassion could be. He made several friends along the way to teach him his lesson, and he defeated his oppressive father, whom he called the « root » of his hatred. His goal as would-be-Shaman King was now to rid the world of hatred, in hopes of cleansing it like this.
As a shaman, Ren was very in tune with the earth around him, especially the heavens. Stargazing was his hobby. His concepts of how to change the world as Shaman King came from this idea, that the earth was exceedingly dirty. He claimed that the stars were less bright in Tokyo because of human filth. Though his outlook has changed, his desire to see the earth finally at peace does not.
Ren’s primary companion Yoh Asakura, with whom he currently shares residence, competed against him for the Shaman King title, and nearly won. He had a desire to live an easy life… the main reason Ren hated him when he first met him. Ren came to accept him, despite his slacker ways.
Ren remains an aloof type of person, and though he will accept people more readily than he ever would consider before, friendship is still a loose concept for him, and making friends usually only becomes so when the friends are imposed upon him. Ren’s change has made him less of a serious figure and more of a sarcastic one, though he’s still liable to be your basic stick-in-the-mud party pooper.
Attire: While at school, a yellow blazer with a green tie, white shirt, and incredibly short black shorts. He also wears a shoulder holster underneath so as to keep Bason with him at all times. (It holds Bason’s memorial tablet)
While at home, Ren most commonly struts in his p00fy black pants as well as a tight, mid-riff showing red silken shirt with ballet flats.
In battle, Ren wears a black silk outfit (prone to rippage) with gold trim, a diamond-cut in the front to show his pecks (as well as a deep scar) and a circle-cut in back to show off his tattoo (the family insignia).
Strengths: Willpower, brute strengths, strategic thinking.
Weaknesses: Feeling of invincibility, cockiness, strategic thinking usually starting with the idea « Bring out the big guns »
Likes: Milk and the number 3. In fact, he’s obsessed with both. Also likes his sister Jun.
Dislikes: Everyone who bothers him. Junk food. Childishness.
Favourite food: Milk
Least favourite food: He’ll eat anything.
Bad habits: Cockiness. Short temper.
Speech: Fluent in Chinese and Japanese. Would like to think he can speak English. Speaks with a tenor voice and commanding tone.
Quote: « You Bastard! » « Of course! »

Family:
Jun Tao : Older sister. The only person Ren’ll show even the remotest bit of affection. She too was cold and heartless before she met Yoh. Unlike Ren, Jun abandoned all traces of a frozen heart and is a cheerful, peppy girl on the regular. She was the most influential person on Ren to get him to change his ways. She’s also the only person who has any knowledge of the kind boy that Ren used to be before his training.
Yuan Tao (En in Japanese): Father and Uncle of Ren. A tall and skinny old man who kept a giant oversoul on as a facade for over 10 years.
Ran Tao : Mother and Aunt of Ren. Not outgoing and usually hides behind the scenes. She’s got a sense of humour when it gets down to it, but the only person with which she usually speaks is her father. She did not interfere with Yuan’s method of raising the children
Ching Tao : Grandfather of Ren, and father of both Yuan and Ran. Eldest member of the Tao household. Resembles Ren in personality but more welcome to strangers. Agrees with Ran that Yuan is a little over the top with his ideas of vengeance, but also does not interfere. Was a skilled assassin in his youth.
+++++++++++++++++
Relationships:
Yoh Asakura : Roommate and friend. Imposed his friendship on Ren and managed to become his ally in the Shaman Tournament. A lazy slacker, Yoh is actually a formidable shaman force, and has Ren’s respect as an equal.
Anna Kyouyoyama : Yoh’s fiancée. The landlord of the Funbari Hills hot spring inn that Yoh and Ren inhabit. She’s Yoh’s motivating force to get up and train… or else. Ren says as little as possible to this crazy chick.
Horohoro : A blundering idiot. Part of Ren’s team in the shaman fight. Specialises in ice, and lives in Hokkaido. Ren hasn’t seen him since the end of the fight.
Lyserg Diethyl : Green-haired brit. A little naive and a little bit psycho. Had his parents murdered by someone more crazy than he is. Has sworn vengeance. Ren did his best to look over the unstable boy while he was a member of their team in the shaman fight, because of the resemblance he found of himself in the poor green boy. Moved back to London post-fight.
Bokuto no Ryu : Biker dude that Ren would rather not associate with. Ren has disembodied Ryu’s insane pompadour on more than one occasion. Ryu would like to think of himself as a mentor to Ren, to guide him in the ways of… a more sane lifestyle. Ren could care less for his advice, and reminds him « don’t get too familiar »
Chocolove MacDonald : Crazy American, also on Ren’s team. Tells really, really poor jokes. Moved back to America post-fight.
Faust XIII : Crazy Doctor. Cut open one of Yoh’s friends once. Ren kicked the weinershnitzle out of him when he tried to cut open Yoh too. Since, he was his next opponent and all. Moved back to Germany post-fight.
+++++++++++++++++
Love : Nada, except a bit of affection towards Jun. Was stopped at a young age from letting it develop into more, however. And Milk. Boy does Ren love his milk.
