The light was all around him. The floor was over flowing with clouds and the general area seemed open. He couldn't explain it, but he had this overwhelming sense of peace within him. But he couldn't remember what happened or recall the last place I am. All he knew is he was standing in this line that seemed to go on eternity. Suddenly he heard a voice call a name that seemed to draw him.
"Yukimora, Kyoshiro"
He was suddenly fast forward to what looked like a gigantic pedistal. From behind it, a beautiful woman with curly blond hair and blue eyes came out, almost glaring at him. She was dressed in what appeared to be ancient Greek garb, but the only thing was you could see straight through her. He looked over at the gates that were right behind her and his crimson eyes opened wide.
"Am...I dead," he asked in almost a disembodied voice.
"Obviously," she said crossing her arms and giving him a look, "You can't expect to win them all, can you assasin Demon Eyes?"
"Oh right," he said with a smirk, chuckling, "That bastard cut-"
"Watch it," the woman said narrowing her eyes even more with a growl, "You are on dangerous ground as it is, assasin. But for some reason, the high council has seen fit to take pity on you, given your.....history. So I am going to make this meeting short and sweet. You want to get into heaven, you have to prove your worth as a soul."
"Heh," he said rubbing his chin, "This is certainly a....suprising, turn of events. I never thought a man who had killed over a thousand people while he was alive would be given a second chance. I guess all the hype about 'clensing your soul' isn't all it's cracked up to be."
"Shut up," the woman hissed, "As I said, before you can walk through those gates, you have to prove your worth scum. And with your life legacy, it is going to be FAR from easy?"
"So what did the council have in mind," he said crossing his arms and looking her up and down. She glared.
"First off," she said holding a finger up, "There really is such a thing as guardian angels. Our job is to protect those we are assigned to until they die, then we move on to another soul. One angel for each lifetime. I am Shelena and I guess you could say I'm-"
"My new SOUL mate," he cracked wisely with a smirk.
"Your manager," she said unphased by his unearthly charms, " Quite recently, however, we've had a case that requires a little more effor than the angel assigned could handle. Now I know you are a take-charge kinda guy so we figured we would give this assignment to you. You make sure this boy stay's safe throughout his life, you will make it into heaven."
"That simple," he said with a laugh, "Piece of cake."
"Not...that simple," she said giving him a chilling smirk of her own, "This boy is from an abused family and molested on a daily basis by his nanny. His father is of great importance, who ALWAYS get's what he wants and his mother is to scared to say anything. His little sister, died at the hands of the father. But the press covered it up as a thug who broke in and killed her to get close to the family. The boy is emotionally unstable and suicidal. Your job is to make sure that he stays alive....and happy."
"What," Kyo said with a glare, "You want me to play babysitter to some brat and make him happy? Who do you take me for?"
"It's either that or the firey pits of hell," she said giving him a shrug, "I couldn't care either way."
Kyo stayed quiet for a moment in thought. On one hand he had firey tourment. On the other, a lifetime of babysitting some emobrat. Should there really have been anything to think about? He guessed it was just the lazy greedy person in him that made him think. But the most of him, wanted a cushy eternity.
"Fine," he said, scowling a bit, "Take me to this boy."

Kenta painted the walls with his blood. Chartreuse eyes that had once held a great lustre ran dull, his skin which had once been healthy and scarless was now marred and pale. Blond and hazel hair ran together on his head, drooping itself to his sholders. Blood ran down his pale wrist, over his palm and down a trail off his index finger which Kenta drew across the wall. Pictures of morbid things, for Kenta had always been a great artist. The things that could be seen on his wall could send most happy people into shock. It was the last ounce of rebellion left in the broken boy, for every day he'd paint his picture over again, even night he'd be beaten for it, and every morning his nanny would come in and paint over it. Kenta imagined if they wanted to break the cycle, It would make sense to just paint his room red.
Standing shakily, Kenta got up, staggering to his door, avoiding his bed at all costs. He was strapped into it every night regardless of his wants, the dirty things that happened on that bed haunted Kenta. He never wanted to touch it, if it was ever avoidable. He slipped out the door, his black slacks held loosely to his waist by drawstring. His chest was bare, it never seemed worth it to put a shirt on again when it would merely be ripped again later. The halls outside his room were empty, as he had calculated they would be, as he slipped down a cold cooridor to the roof. It was a shame, Kenta had quite a brain in his head, if he'd ever been permitted the chance to do anything with it.
His feet came to the stairs, the stairs led to the top balcony, a precarious spot on the topmost part of his large estate. It could only be expected with such a distinguished man for a father. The same man who was about to cause Kenta to take his own life. He hoped that man ran out after him, maybe seeing his son's remains splattered across the ground would sober him up a bit.
As the cold wind bit away at Kenta's wounds and exposed skin, his feet touched the cold metal of the guardrail that he would leave behind him just as soon as gravity did it's work.

"His name is Ketamine Tranxine," she said taking him to a ledge, " And remember, if he kills himself or dies at all before it is his time, you will be held responsible and sent to hell perminantly."
"Yea yea," Kyo said, "Eternal firey tourment. I get it. Anything else I need to know?"
"He is the only one who can see you," she said, "and, if needed, you can enter his body to control his actions. BUT it is only used in the interest of his well being. If you use his body in any other way to your self gain or amusement, you will be sent straight to hell."
"Damn," he said snapping his ethereal fingers, "I could have had some fun with that one."
"Nice," she said giving him a flat look, "Should you have any problems..."
She slipped a necklace around his soul. He looked at it and frowned. It was the sign of a cross with a ring around the top.
"Oh this is so gay," he said grumbling.
"Yes," the angel said smirking, "But it is your key to help. If you should ever need me, just squeeze this amulet and time will stop so that you may talk to me."
"Will it work now," he said with a seductive smirk. She rolled her eyes and sighed.
"Now all you need to do is jump," she said, "And you will be instantly teleported to your assigned protected."
"Jump," he said gulping a little, "But I just-"
Before he could say anything, the angel got behind him and gave him a shove with a satisfied smirk. He grumbled and fell down towards the earth. She shouted something at him but he couldn't hear it with all the wind in his ears. Suddenly he felt himself land on a hard surface. There was no pain, but there was a slight tingle in his chest.
"Bitch," he grumbled.
"I heard that," he heard a voice in his head say, "Now I am watching you Kyoshiro. No funny business. Eternity is at stake. Have fun and take care of Kenta<3"
"But where do I find this kid," he yelled out but there was only silence. He grumbled and looked around. He was in front of a very large estate.
"Woah," he said with a smirk, shoving his hands into the pockets of his black pants, "Nice place. If I were alive, it would be ideal to lute. Oh well, guess I better find this emobrat."
He walked around for a bit, his crimson eyes taking in the setting. It was a cold night and the wind was merciless. The same kind of night Kyo loved when he was a live. While most people hid from the nastiness of the weather, he would take that as an advantage and be out for the kill. He walked by a fine pair of doberman, who were asleep. Both woke up and looked right at him as he walked by. He guessed it was true what they said about animals and spirits. Only he really wasn't a spirit. The thought had just occured to him and how ironic his situaiton was.
"I am an angel," he said in a deep purr running a hand through his long black bangs., "What an odd twist of fate. Somewhere in hell my idiotic brother is laughing at my fate. Oh well."
Just then he felt something within him. He could hear a breath and feel a weak heartbeat. He followed the sound as it got louder and louder. He went to the wall of the house and looked up. He could see the shadow of a small figure standing above. By the way he could feel him, he guessed that it was his guarded. He took one gigantic jump and landed perfectly on the roof.
That is a useful trick, he thought with a smirk, Could have used that in the battle of the Red Sea.
He looked over at the shadow as he became clearer in the halfmoonlight. He must have been quite a looker at one time, but now was a shell of a boy. He was so pale and his eyes were lifeless. Much like the widows of the husbands Kyo had slaughtered. It never really bothered him much, but the story of this boy played in his mind. He had very sick parents who deserved to die, that much was true. Even Kyo knew that when he heard it. Now he felt it was his concern since it had attributed to this boy's behavior. He saw the boy wave over the side and prepair to jump.
He had no idea how he did it, but Kyo lifted up his hand to rather reach for the boy, but instead made a strong gust of wind that blew him back. He blinked several times and then smiled. This situation was just getting better and better. Or so he thought.
"You know," he said in his deep throated voice as he crossed his arms over his bare chest, only a black vest is what he wore on his torso, " I wouldn't do that. It is a poor way to end your own life. Not to mention the cowardly way out."

"Ungh!" Kenta groaned in pain as his bones made contact with the hard platform behind him. Being of only skin and bones, Kenta had little to cushon his fall with. The voice that he heard made sense before he stopped to question the fact that there WAS a voice. If falling back five feet hurt, dieing by dropping would be excrusiating.
The dimly lit eyes flickered with signs of life as the boy scrambled to pull himself together, standing and stepping back once to press himself against the wall in the alcove of the stairs that led down. An unwelcome looking angel type stood before him... lecturing him no less. That was a new one. And had he not just been blown painfully back on his ass, he'dve thought this was a dream. "...cowardly?" Kenta questioned the ethereal being. "You've got to be joking. I'd rather be cowardly and free than be brave enough to endure one more day of this purgatory. I'd really like to know what sins i'm repenting for." Kenta shook from the next gust of wind. "Maybe i'll just sit here. They say, they say it'll be in the negatives this evening. I can just freeze to death before anyone notices i'm missing. No fancy angel blast will stop me then." Kenta shivered violently, sinking down to his butt and clutching his arms. His tone when speaking to the angel was almost threatening. It was desperation that fueled him nowadays. He was either deperately clinging to life or reaching for death, and yet he was trapped. Somewhere he could not be allowed to live nor was he permitted to die. Trapped eternal within his mortal shell, the weak body that housed his soul and bound it to earth against his will. And so he was convinced- purgatory, purgatory, it had to be thus. Whatever the purpose of this torture be, Kenta just wanted it to end, and quickly.

Kyo scoffed at the boy. What was wrong with him? Why didn't he just fight back like normal men? If his father caused him so much anguish he should knock the guy out and go on his own way. That is what Kyo did while he was still alive. He didn't need anyone to tell him what he was worth. He knew he was superior to all of them, so he kept on living to prove that fact.
He looked over at Kenta again. He looked so pale and helpless. Almost like a little kitten. Then Kyo noticed the blood that was drying, but still slowly flowing from the boys wrists. He grimmaced a bit, but then caught himself. What was that? He had killed over a thousand people while he lived. He was a brutal and ruthless assasin. Bloodshed was his delight. Why was this boy any different? He decided that sitting around staring at things wasn't helping things and if was to spend the rest of this boy's life with him, it was going to be a pleasurable experiance for him.
"Kid," he said with a smug smirk, his crimson eyes focusing on the boy, "This is your lucky day. By some odd twist of fate, the high council saw fit to assign me to you for as long as you live. I'm here to take care of you, and if you play your cards right, I can teach you some moves that will free you from your tourment for the rest of your life. My name is Kyoshiro Yukimora and I am your guardian angel. Now let's see what we can do about cleaning you up."
He focused on himself. He remembered in the flurry of talk, his manager angel saying something about making himself tangible enough to only touch the boy. After a great tingling and a pain in his chest he went over to the boy and scooped him up in his arms. It took a great deal of energy for Kyo but he didn't show it. He walked down the stairs and looked around, making sure that there was no one around. When all was clear, he walked down the hall, somehow knowing his way around. It must have been part of the package. Kyo shrugged it off as he opened the boy's door and closed it behind him. He stopped immediately, even in the dark noticing the fresh coat of blood all over the walls. He laughed a bit and looked at the kid.
"Nice room kid," he said with a little sarcasm, "Remind me to get the number of your decorator."
He chuckled to his own joke and took the kid to his private bathroom. He grimmaced as he saw various disturbing items used in the art of exploritive sexual practices. What normally would have intrigued him, disgusted him at the same time. How could they do this to the boy. Even he thought it was monsterous. This feeling of sympathy disturbed him. He supposed it was because as a guardian angel, you had to feel a certain connection with your protected. It was still creeping him out. He didn't like to be so close to anyone.
He set the boy on the bathtub and took a washcloth from the hanger. He dampened it with warm water while frowning and knocking all the items in the sink into the garbage can. He could only guess that to unalive objects, he was like a poltergeist, able to levetate and otherwise move them with his spiritual energy. He kept that in mind in case he should need it. Once he had cleared the counter of anything disgusting he looked back at the boy with his usual charming smirk and shrugged.
"Oops," he said coming over to him and begining to clean the wounds," Clumsy me. Oh well. You got a medical kit around anywhere?"

Kenta blinked. A guardian angel... eh? Here to save him from torture? He'd see how far he got. Today would be just like the next day, and the next, ad infinitum. This angel guy was kidding himself if he thought he could change anything. Kenta just saw him as a nusaince. If he hadn't come around, he could've been happily dead by now. But the angel would not allow him to do that. Kenta had to question his motives... he certainly didn't seem like the most sharing and caring type of guy. He was actually rather sarcastic and quite rude. What kind of cruel high council would assign him this excuse for a dead man?
Reluctantly, Kenta gave the angel his bloody arm. If he wasn't going to let him die, he may as well suffer as little as possible. Kenta had given up his will to resist a long time ago. "Admire it now. My nanny comes and paints over it every morning, and i'll get beat for it later tonight. And I imagine you won't let me draw it again." Kenta said so with some spite in his voice. The angel was slowly taking away his few joys in this pathetic life. Maybe he'd just come to drive him truely insane? Kenta had to admit, he knew he was on the brink. It hurt to be so painfully aware of your own situation.
He watched the angel cast the toys and torture devices into the trash, which Kenta knew he'd get blamed for. Like his father would belive he just inherited a guardian angel. Rediculous. Kenta had thought he might've been just hallucinating, until the angel had picked him up and carried him. Most hallucinations couldn't do that. "My nanny has the medical kit. It'd be a shame if I died on her... ne? Don't you think so? My life is just worth sooo much to her~" Kenta slouched, his free hand tracing lines over his bright blue veins.
His head snapped up, hearing footsteps outside. He shivered. "I'm never supposed to be the in the bathroom..." Kenta muttered quickly, informing the angel he'd just gotten him in a load of trouble. "If they catch me in here, it'll be bad." The voice outside shouted 'Kenta!' in a high-pitched screetch, his nanny come to check up on him. He already heard her opening the door to his bedroom and coming in. All was lost now.

Kyo scoffed as he listened to the kid. What a whiny brat! Had he been in a different situation he would have smacked the kid himself and told him to get a grip. Perhaps it would only make things worse, but it would make him feel better. Whenever Kenta talked, it was like the whole world was out to get him and no one gave a shit. Kyo knew that feeling all to well. Which is perhaps why he became the assasin that he did. He looked in the medicine cabinet and found the gauze. He said nothing to any of his depressing rantings only continued to wrap. Kyo thought that if he opened his mouth, nothing good would come out.
Just then he heard the screetch of the nanny. He winced a bit. Too bad he could still hear. Then he saw Kenta panic majorly. He put a hand on the boy's shoulder.
"Let me handle this," he said getting up and kicking the bathroom door jamming it shut. That should buy them a little time. Then he turned to the boy and kneeled in front of him.
"I don't give a flying fuck what you believe," he said very bluntly, "I am here to protect you. I have no choice. So protect you I will. And don't go jumping to conclusions, I can assure you that I will not fail in my duty. Now, I have a suggestion, instead of paining the walls with your mixture, let's try a different shade of red."
He saw the confusion in the boys eyes and he smirked. It was a cute look on the boy. Better then how he had been looking. He heard the maid go off, then minutes later the Dad came pounding on the door, screaming his head off. Kyo smiled and rushed into the boy, taking over his body. Finally, a chance for action. He got up in Kenta's body and chuckled.
"Now boy," he said the the spirit of the boy, "watch and learn."
With a simple deep breath, Kyo kicked the door hard. Broke off the hinges and scared the dad and the nanny to the side. They looked at the door and back to whom they thought was Kenta, shocked. Just then the dad looked ready to blow a blood vessel. Kyo only smirked.
"You little brat," he bellowed, "What the hell did you do that for?"
"And you KNOW you are not supposed to be in the bathroom," the Nanny hissed, narrowing her eyes.
"Pipe down you fucktards," he said oozing confidence, "I can't hear myself think with you two breathing."
"You ungreatful little bastard," the father screamed as he raised his hand. When he brought it down, Kyo caught it easily, his sick smrik only deepening. The father looked shocked.
"Now it's my turn," Kyo said with a deep throated chuckle. Since he was of height, he took his fist and slammed it right into the ribs of the father, hearing a few of them crack. He licked his lips hungrily as he jumped up and kicked the father right in the head, sending him into a wall, breaking a vase of dead flower that was on the table. Then Kyo turned to the maid who looked at him both in anger and in fear.
"You will not touch me anymore," Kyo said with a glare, "If either of you touch me again, I will kill you. Do you understand?"
"Y-y-yes," the nanny said quivering in fear, but then stopping, looking behind Kyo. Kyo smirked. He knew the father was trying to sneak up on him. Kyo mearly slid away from him as he went to grab. Then in a flash he had a piece of the vase in his hand and held it to the father's neck.
"I don't think you are taking me seriously," he said with a murderous streak in his crimson eyes that shone through the boy. Nothing would have gave him more pleasure to slit both of their throats, but somehow he thought that wouldn't get him in good with the council. He could already see Shelena frowning in his head. He groaned and kept the shard still, still looking threatening to the whimpering man below him.
"I should have you locked up you ungreatful brat," he growled at him.
"Suits me," he said smirking again," It would just give me a reason to break out and claim your head."
The father believed him then. The fear was evident in his eyes. He nodded a little.
"Fine," he said in his best mustered courage, "We will leave you alone from now on. No more of this business."
"No beatings," he begun, "No lies, and no kinky sex games you sick bastards. Try finding whores to satisfy those needs. After all, a real date certainly wouldn't touch you with a ten foot pole after learning what you have done to me ."
"Please," the nanny begged, "Let him go, we said we would leave you alone."
"Shut up bitch," he growled letting the man go as he ran out the door, "Daddy and I were having a moment. Try shutting your fucking mouth for once...or shall I cut your pretty lips off to assure your silence?"
The woman's eyes went wide in terror at the sick smirk on the boys face. Something told her he wasn't kidding around. She suddenly became very afraid of him and ran out of the room. Once they were gone, Kyo went over and shut the door, then exited Kenta's body howling with laughter.
"Did you see the look of terror on their faces," he said looking at the boy, "I thought your father was going to have a corinary! And the main, the little bitch. Some should learn to keep their mouth shut. But I love the look she gave me before she left. It excited me just a bit. It's nice to know I still haven't lost my touch. Not a bad performance eh kid? If they value their lives, I think they will leave you alone from now on. See? I told you that I can help."
He smirked and crossed his arms proudly. He always loved the thrill of a good fight, and with Kenta's body, it brought back a joy within him that he hadn't felt since he had died. Maybe this "Guardian Angel" thing wasn't such a bad idea after all. Though something told him he might have to answer to Shelena later. But he didn't care. Kyoshiro Yukimora was back. He looked at the boy who leaned against the door, breathing heavily. He guessed that his body just couldn't take all that.
"You okay kid," he said as he went over to look at him, "You must be tired. You just won the fight of your life. Perhaps you should lie down."

"Ughh... my muscles." Kenta's body wasn't used to the strain of a jump-kick, or any of the fancy manuvers Kyo could pull off because he still remembered them. He slumped forward onto his chest and layed there like that. He certainly wasn't about to get up, and he still wouldn't touch his bed with a ten-foot pole. A bad feeling in the pit of his stomach told him his father wouldn't give up that easily. Or maybe that was the dinner he didn't eat. Regardless... he wasn't feeling victorious at all.
"No... it's not over yet." Kenta mumbled quietly, his eyes closing to semi-lids as sleep overcame him. "You probably made it ever worse. My father... he won't back off so easily. He'll kill me if he has to, it's not like he cares. An heir to the business? Rediculous. I wanted to be a psychiatrist. Thats... thats..." Kenta's eyes welled up with tears. The day he'd admitted he wanted nothing to do with his father's business, with business in general, that he wanted to go out and help people who weren't happy... Kids who didn't have loving parents... His father lost utter and complete interest in him. It started out just as a crackdown- trying to get into Kenta's head that life would be better if he just accepted the family business. But Kenta refused... it got to the point where his father murdered his sister out of rage and began to beat him. He gave the nanny free range on anything she desired. He proclaimed that if he were going to be a psychiatrist, well, he'd just have to get to know how the other side felt. That, he'd see if Kenta could still be a mental health doctor once he'd robbed him of his own.
The memories hurt. That sudden deterioration in his life all because of a choice he'd made. But all the more, with every beating he refused more sternly, that he would never, EVER wish to work under that bastard he was to call father.
"Ne... Kyoshiro..." Kenta's eyes lifted a little to the tall figure above him. "You killed people in your lifetime... didn't you? I can tell, by your actions, and the way you handled my father as well as me. You don't understand me at all... do you?" Kenta had sharp analytical skills. He could tell that Kyo wasn't the type to get pushed around. He knew the two basic types of people... Those who took it all in, and those who took it out on others. Kenta's absorbant nature had caused him to be obediant, depressed, and broken. Kyo... kyo was the type to get angry. To take a gun and shoot the cause of his anger through the head. Or if there were no cause... just shoot everyone around him. They were completely opposite. Kenta doubted Kyo had a plan for defending him against further assault. In the end, he could never keep such a grand promise.

Kyo shook his head at the kid. He had just totally kicked the asses of those who oppressed him, and the kid insists that he had put him in more danger. Could he not see the utterly terrified looks on the faces of his enemies. That was a sure sign that they would think twice before bothering him again. At least in Kyo's experiance, that is what seemed to happen.
His eyes widened as the kid questioned to his past. It was not one that someone as this kid should hear or even be concerned about. If anything, Kyo tensed defensively at the question. He HATED it when people got nosy about his personal business. He guess this trait was carried into the afterlife as well. But he shrugged it off. If he was going to be spending a lot of time with this kid, there was no sense in beating around the bush or hiding anything.
"I guess you could say that," he said grabbing a pillow and blanket from the closed and dropping them by the kid, "I was an assasin. Trained to hunt and kill. Hence why I am here. I don't know what they are talking about, but the High Councel is convinced that I was made this way, not born this way. Some bullshit about the fact that I have a heart. I don't know. All I know is that they are giving me a second chance for heaven. YOU are my second chance. I really don't want to mess that up. Now the way I see it, you have two options. You can sit here, wallowing in your pitty afraid of your own shadow. OR you can get the hell up, dust yourself off, and do something about the next attack which you insist is coming. Now from what I have gathered of you so far, you seem to favor the self pity part. If that is the case, I will be forced to continue to jump in and protect you. It is my duty and I take my duty's very seriously. But if you decide to actually used this period of temporary safety, I can teach you what I know to help you help yourself. The choice is up to you. It's your life and you only get one. So why not salvage what you can of it and do what YOU want to do with it?"
He could tell that there was something more behind the kids frequent attacks. The look in his eyes said it all. It was almost as if Kyo could read his mind. Could they have established a bond so strong so quickly. No. It was impossible. Kyo was just being the know it all again. He only smirked.

"Ah... I see." Kenta knew he was right. He could tell when Kyo was in his body, the strong urge he'd resisted to kill his father. Kenta... he didn't have the power to kill him and get away with it. His father was the one with all the power, and you certainly can't cover a murder when their throat is slit. Kenta had just been hoping he'd get a sudden heart attack one day.
"I'm just a bother to you, right?" Kenta smiled weakly. "Your last shot into heaven, babysitting a little boy with no hope for the future. I'm your duty aren't I? You'd just rather take care of me than burn in Hell. What a sentiment." Kenta clawed at the pillow before him, dragging himself over to rest on it's plush goodness.
"Stop looking at the situation so optimistically and look at the reality of it. How could I stop my father? Certainly a little fright like that... no, he'd never let himself act so below me. You don't know him. He'll come back. I'd have to say that probably... it'll be soon. There is no peace in this household." Kenta whimpered slightly as he curled up with his blanket, his muscles still hurting him. "You're my guardian angel... do your job and guard me. I'll trust you. You talk big... i'm almost interested in seeing if you can back up what you say." Kenta chuckled lightly in disbelief, and drifted into sleep. The other members of the household remained awake, trying to make sense of what had just happened with Kenta.

Kyo didn't know why but this kid's words had hit him. Why was he being so optimistic? It really wasn't like him at all. Probably because he was more confident in himself than the boy was. He had always been more confident in himself. Earlier was evidence why. But had he really been just fooling himself? No. He would not believe such dribble. He was far from over his head in this deal. It was going to be a piece of cake for him, no matter what this kid said. Kenta was his only ticket into heaven, that much was true. Maybe the kid was just his "duty". But that really wasn't as bad as it sounded. The fact that the kid trusted him now was half the battle, but the war was only just begining. He looked over at the sleeping form on the kid. He looked far from peaceful, but a little more relaxed then he had been. Kyo was comforted slightly by it, but as long as he was this boys guardian angel, that look would change, he would see to it. "That is good to know," he heard a familiar voice say in his head, "So maybe you have a heart after all." "Whatever," he grumbled. "You really shouldn't be so careless though," Shelena with a little scolding, "You nearly killed them-" "But I didn't," he said in his defense. "And," she condtinued ignoring him, "Put the boy's life in danger as well. If you are going to do your job correctly to keep your selfish heart from being in hell, I suggest you take more care in your actions." "I was reacting in a moment," he said, "So sue me if it wasn't the best choice. But it was the most effective at the moment and no one got killed." "Not yet," she said with a little warning, "you could barely control your actions..." "I was in full control," he hissed. "None the less," she said, "I want you to be careful, Kyoshiro. You are on thin ice as it is and I don't want to see you blow it." "Does this mean that you are starting to like me," he said, the smirk evident both outside and in his voice. "It means that I am concerned for the boy's well being...as well as your own," Shelena said with a little irritation in her voice, "Just watch yourself next time and do your job right." "Jeez," he said, "You are starting to sound like the kid. Stop worrying so much. I can and will do my job." "I hope so," she said, "Your soul is at stake. Don't blow it." And like that the voice in his head was gone. He sighed at the quietness that surrounded him. Useless know it all. What did she know of fully performing duties? All she had to do was sit around at a pedistal all day and give orders. He looked over to the youth again and gave a large sigh. When the vision's around you, Bring tears to your eyes. And all that's around you, Are secrets and lies, He walked over to the sleeping boy and looked down at him. He looked so at rest, it was...satisfying. At first Kyo had scoffed. How dare this kid question his motives. How dare he question his ablilities. What right did he have to be so forthcoming? Kyo watched him, glaring a bit. But then he saw the look on the boy's face as he slept. It was as if the only safehaven for him was in his dreams. Kyo decided that he liked that look and wanted to make sure that Kenta kept that look on his face at all times. That his ashen skin would have it's healthy glow and that the boy would feel safe enough to go and do what he pleased. To be happy again. Kyo was kind of freaked out by this sudden attack of emotion, but he only guessed it was to be expected if you were to protect someone. For once there was no pride, only compassion. I'll be your strength. I'll be your hope. Keeping your faith when it's gone. The one you should call, Was standing here all along. He had never felt such a strong surge of energy. It was a sense of great empowerment that he had never felt and it came not from the thought of domination or being the strongest, but using what skills you have to protect someone. Someone who can't protect themselves. Kyo saw now that the kid was so abused that he believed that there was nothing more he could do to protect himself other than end his suffering by ending his life. Kyo, while living, never could understand the concept of self sacrifice. He always had believed that it was for those who were too weak to deal with their problems head on. He had never considered the physical or mental suffering that these people had gone through. People such as widows, fathers, unmastered vassals, or abused children. But now...his eyes were opened. It was their only release from the pain of reality, at least that is what they are forced into thinking. And all due to the selfish needs of the ones who tourment them. Kyo began to dispise those people, people like Kenta's father or Kenta's nanny. They deserved a great punishment and now that the mighty Blood Assasin's eyes were open, he would see to it that these monsters got what was coming to them so that people like Kenta could believe in themselves again. Aside from protecting dear Kenta, this would be his mission. And I will take you in my arms, And hold you right where you belong. Till the day my life is through, This I promise you. "Kid," he said softly, moving a strey strand of hair from the boy's eyes, "You are right to trust in me. As long as I am around, I will do my best to make sure you never have to worry about anything ever again. Now that I am here, you will be well protected...and happy. Now that I am here, you will never worry about anyone bothing you ever again. I swear." He sat right next to Kenta the whole night. Since he was already dead, he had no need to sleep. This gave him the advantage to keep a sneak attack from happening. He fully intended on keeping Kenta safe. This was now more than getting into heaven. This boy trusted him. He put his life in Kyo's ghostly hands. And Kyo was going to prove to him that he could help him. That he could protect him using all the powers available to him. This I promise you.

The nanny had come back early in the morning, well before Kenta awoke to repaint his wall. Business as usual, except that today she appeared to have a dust mask firmly strapped over her mouth while sloppily hitting the walls with her white paintbrush. She painted at a slightly faster rate than normal, which could have been expected since Kenta had nearly killed her the previous day. But after painting, she didn't wait around to see if the blood was sitll visible through the coat of paint, nor did she wait to see if Kenta had stirred yet. Instead, she beat a hasty retreat from Kenta's room, and shut his door, ensuring it was not cracked open.
An hour later, Kenta finally stirred. He'd heard his nanny come in, but didn't want the trouble of appearing awake. He'd fallen back asleep for a bit, until a nasty smell kept him from napping anylonger. He coughed and sat up, looking at the wall and then at his guardian angel, who snapped from his contented boredom when he noticed Kenta awake.
"D'you smell that? Can angels even smell things?" Kenta asked him as he peered over at the shoddily painted wall. He knew his nanny had been getting rather sloppy lately, what with the repetitiveness of the repainting, but that was probably the worst job he'd seen yet. Had she been... that scared? Oh, but the reek.
"My eyes sting... the paint's never been this rancid before. Smells like bleach... and something else. Rotten eggs? That's rediculous, they don't make sulfur-based paint..." Kenta shivered and coughed again, more violently. That's what made him pause. He felt lightheaded and he couldn't breath clearly. He had no memory of ever experiencing athma... if nothign had changed, he wouldn't feel so strange... then his 'worst case scenario' played in his head, and he looked at the paint with a fearful eye.
"T-t-toxic! The fumes! I bet- *cough* I bet they're toxic!" Kenta panicked. "H-how long have I been in here since she painted?" Kenta stubled to the door and shook it, but his nanny had jammed it closed. That had to mean they were trying to kill him. It made sense, since they couldn't have anymore /fun/ with him.
With a sniffle, he pivoted and looked at the angel. "Well...?" Kenta had finally decided to give him the benefit of the doubt. He was going to go into hysterics if his fancy angel dude couldn't find him a way out of this situation. Funny how just the other day he was trying to take his own life, now he was trying to defend himself from homicide.

Kyo had watched the woman with a smirk. She seemed more jittery than normal. As if she were scared.
Good, Kyo thought, The wench deserves a little fear. Perhaps this means she has wised up and will never touch Kenta agian.
Kyo watched her leave. Something didn't feel right. Sure she was scared, but the mask. Maybe there was something else to this. As an assasin, he was trained to detect deciet and even though he couldn't smell something didn't feel right to him. He heard the boy stirr and start to mumble incoherantly. Just then two words he spoke hit him clear as a bell, Toxic Paint.
"Those bastards," he growled as he took a towel from the bathroom and threw it at the kids face, "Breath in that. It should help temporarily while I get us out of this."
The door was no option and the only window in the room was a skylight. Damn them, they had thought of everything. Kyo looked around, figuring a way out. He went to the bathroom where he found some rope for bondage purposes. He shuddered a little bit and grabbed it. Then he took a chair and threw it at the skylight, pushing Kenta out of the way of any debris. Then he went to the four poster bed and started to kick it. It took several tries but it broke off. He tied it to the middle of the post and threw it up through the window. It clattered up to the top, and much to Kyo's relief, landed in such a position that it was across the window so that it would act as a brace.
"I can help you get out of here," he said, "but you are already too weak from my last posetion. I need you to climb the rope. Trust me Kenta. I promise to help you out safely."

Kenta looked from the rope to Kyo like he was crazy. Kenta had never passed a gym class in his life. Now... climb a rope? with no help? While he could hardly /breath/? Kyo had to be out of his unearthly mind. Still, it did seem to be the only choice between life and death.
Carefully gripping the rope, winding it around his wrist to get a better grip, he took hold with both hands. He hovered for a bit, trying to decide how best to proceed. He eventually decided on the worm motion. His feet pressed together as tightly as possible, giving him enough grip to regrasp the rope several inches higher. Kenta's breathing was already ragged. He was going to make it up seven more feet of this? He was glad he didn't have a high ceiling. That wasn't to say that it was low.
"Kyoshiro-sempai... I dunno how you intend on helping me, but I have next to nothing for upper body strength." Kenta whimpered, slowly inching a few more grabs up the rope. He nearly broke down into tears when he lost his grip and fell, landing on his ass and having to start all over again. Not to mentioned, the rope burn and broken glass that littered the floor in his room, and him with bere feet. "Ung... I'm not going to be able to make this..."

Kyo looked around frantically. He should have guessed by looking at the boy that he had no upper body strength. And Kyo could not possess him again, it would drain him completely. With these fumes around, it would kill him. For the first time ever, Kyo was scared. His second day at being a guardian angel, and already he was failing miserably. He should have seen this coming. He knew they would try something. Why didn't he just....
No, he thought giving the room a deathly glare, I've not failed before. I'm not going to fail now. This boy needs me. He is not physically or, at the moment, mentally able to do this on his own. I have to find a way to do this so that he gets out alive.
You know you still can use tangibility you dolt,[/B] her voice rang out in his head, but bear in mind that it weakens you greatly. If you get out, you will have to make sure you are both somewhere safe so that you may regain your spiritual energy. And try not to make it too obvious, because to anyone else, you look just as a shadow.
"For once you tell me something useful," he said with a laugh.
HEY, the voice rang out but he was too busy focusing on his energy to listen to anymore. As before, he felt the tingle all around him and he knew that he had done it successfully. However, he could also feel it draining his energy now too. They wouldn't have long, but perhaps it was enough time.
He quickly scoope the light boy up and threw him over is shoulder. Then, he quickly made his way up the rope. It seemed so easy for him, but it drained a great deal of energy. Then once they were on the roof, he brought the rope up and took it off the bed post. He could hear the collaborating of guards from inside and downstairs. It would be hard not to be seen in the bright daylight, but it was hardly an issue at this point.
He tied the rope on to the railing of the roof and began to climb down the back of the house. It was much easier than climbing up, that was certain. He waited in the bushes, hushing the kid of any noise he made. Then when all was clear, he ran with lightning speed across the lawn and to the hedge bush.
"HEY," he heard a guy shouting behind them, but he stopped when he saw the young lord being carried...by a shadow?
Kyo smirked. This bought enough time to jump over the surrounding hedge and brick fence, leaving that one guard puzzled. No one would ever believe him, Kyo surmized. That was the great thing about only one witness, they were either easier to kill or harder to believe. Once they had made it safely pass the grounds and into the streets, Kyo ducked down a few allyways and up a ladder. He didn't know where he was going but he knew that he was getting weaker, so they had to hide. He went into a broken window of an old rundown warehouse a good distance away, and set the boy down in what would have been the managers office.
"There," he said breathing heavily as he let the form go, "This should bide enough time to make a plan and rest up. I've used a great deal of energy from my tangibility form and you are still weak from the paint fumes. But we got out, and you are okay. Do you have anyone you know and can trust to stay with? Someone they don't know about?"

Kenta was just about sick from the wild escape. He didn't like being shooken up that much. he rested a hand lightly over his mouth and shivered, looking down at his unclothed body. He hadn't been outside in ages, so shirt and shoes never really struck him as necessary. He supposed, he was a bit wrong though. Now it was cold, and outside further it was windy, and Kenta's feet were just as delacate as the rest of him. It wasn't like he had much a place to walk, and his house was carpeted... and the footbaths. If there was one thing about being rich, it's that your whole body was to be kept in the most pampered of conditions. Even if he was half starved most of the time and rather sickly, Kenta's skin was still moisturized dayly, and his feet cured once a week. He couldn't get much softer unless he was a plushie.
Kenta pulled his legs to his face and coughed lightly, wrapping his arms about himself. "I was never allowed to make friends... I don't think i've interacted with other people since pre-school... I was mostly home educated. And I don't have any money... Like my father would give me any insentive to run away." Kenta looked at Kyo carefully. He was right when he thought that he only thought in the moment, and never drew out a long term plan. "You know... I don't even have any /clothing/." Kenta felt the need to emphasize this. He was half-frozen after that dash, and he bet, being dead, Kyo couldn't even tell it was cold out. If he couldn't smell, he'd probably lost just about all of his human senses. Though Kenta was still curious about touch. He could pick him up, obviously, but could he feel him there? It seemed like he'd probably drop him if he couldn't... and he could obviously see and hear still. But could he feel the temperature?
As if on cue, as Kenta was about to open his mouth to complain again, his stomach grumbled. A rather angry grumble that made Kenta double-over further and clutch his stomach. He moaned softly in pain, and figured that would be enough of an indication that Kenta was obviously malnourished. His bangs drooped sadly into his eyes and Kenta said nothign more. They were obviously in a pickle, and Kenta was really restraining telling Kyo that it was all his fault.

Kyo grumbled. He had been so concerned with the kids survival at the moment that he had fogotten of the conditions at the moment. Although, he had just saved this kid's life, it still wasn't good enough. He was just no good at protecting those who needed him most. He growled and ran his hand into the wall, but it only went through.
"Whatever," he said, "My God. Nothing I do is good enough. I thought being here would be there and suffer them trying to kill you. Maybe Im not such a good long term thinker, but you are alive. Sorry I can't be a better guardian but I am doing the best I can with what I have to work with. Cut me a little slack. I was alone when I lived, so I've never had to look out for anyone before."
He was more angry with himself than he was with the kid. A good guardian angel would have warm clothes and a better place for his protected to go. A good guardian would have had his food and made sure that the one he was protecting didn't feel more in danger with them than with out them. Kyo was just no good at this. He sighed heavily, feeling a little drained. But he didn't show it to the kid. Kenta already thought his was a large dangerous loser.
"Just stay here and stay quiet," he said, "Im going to gather some of your things and some food. I will not be long."
And with that, he jumped out the window and seemed to move like lightning through the streets. He made it into the mansion in no time. He looked in Kenta's closet, ignoring the Nanny and the Father, who were in there, mystified as to how the boy exactly such a small weak boy made it through the skylight. Kyo grumbled, but then smirked as he took a pencil from Kenta's desk and went over to the wall. Neither of them seemed to notice the pencil hovering in midair until the horrible scratching noises caught their attention. Kyo roughly scratched in the wall how he felt about all of this.
"Assholes, Your 'toy' is gone. I, the ghost of this home, have taken him away. Far away. You will never hurt him again. And if you ever touch another human being like you touched him, I will know and comeback for you. Remember, steak knifes can be fun. Ta!"
They proceeded to freak out and ran out of the room screaming. He could see Shelena shaking her head in his mind as he went over to Kenta's closet with a chuckle. Ignorant boobs. He found a bag and packed some of his clothes in it, including a comfortable looking long wool coat. Then he went to where the boy lay earlier and collected the blanket. It was fun being able to touch inanimate objects. He would have made a better poltergeist. He grumbled and shook his head as he faded down to the kitchen and gathered a grocery bag of food. Then with a final look, he ran away and back the warehouse where Kenta sat curled up. He looked miserable. Kyo droped the food and the bag in front of him and dropped the heavy blanket on him.
"Sorry I got you in this mess," he said quietly sitting across the room with his knees drawn up to him, "I just thought I would do what I thought was best. But I guess it really wasn't the best. I suck at this Guardian Angel thing, but that dosen't mean I am going to quit. I was assigned to you...and I can see now that I am all you have. So if you say you trust me, then I will do my best not to let you down. I will come up with something. I promise. But first, I have to stop thinking as if you were me. It's a hard mindset to get out of. I will see what I can come up with as far as a next plan of attack."
Kyo wasn't sure why, but the look of irritation and fear in the boys eyes killed him. He wanted Kenta to feel safe under his care and had so far been doing a pretty poor job, so, both to rest up and to think, he sat quietly, racking his brain for a possible solution.

Kenta adhered to the blanket like it was a missing layer of skin and his shivers ceased. In the most interesting motion ever preformed by a human, Kenta made his way over to the bag of food before him, in somewhat of a roll and slide, a sluglike motion with twice the speed. never once did he allow one part beside his head out as he engulfed the poor bag of food into his blanket, then popped his head into his shell of a tent and began to ravage the bag. The food never even stood a chance.
A satisfied burp later, Kenta gave up the food bag, now half-full, and blushed lightly at his poor manners. He had been thinking over Kyo's request, since he finally had the energy in him to think. He slimed over to where Kyo sat, apparently wrapped in his own guilt. He really was a newbie to this guardian angel thing, wasn't he? Kenta was right when he deemed him an incompetant imbesile who acted on impulse, but he really was trying. And from his earlier outburst, Kenta surmised that Kyo was trying to look out for him, not just a quick ticket to heaven. For an assasin, he sure warmed up quickly.
"Kyoshiro-sempai, you've had my trust." Kenta muttered lightly, poking gently at the intangible ghost. It was chilly to stick his hand into him, but certainly he could pass through if he wanted too. The idea of being inside Kyo was, however, a little bit creepy. "Even if I didn't trust you i'd follow you. There are too many people out there... which I cannot trust. As they say, if you can't trust your own family... then who? But you were acting in my best interests... I can respect that more than those who lead me on falsely and wish to hurt me." Kenta looked away, then slowly his eyes drew over Kyo's shimmery form. "Something about your lack of tangibility... makes me a little more secure." Kenta wasn't worried about mental abuse. He'd been depressed for years, a little broken trust wouldn't leave him any worse for wear. Assuming he kept a healthy distance from his ghostly companion, he could make it just fine emotionally. And despite Kyo's ability to remain tangible for a while, he tended to doubt that he'd be raped by a man trying his ass off to get into heaven.

Kyo looked over at the boy who seemed mildly entertained by his intangibility. He couldn't help but smile. Despite everything, the kid was adorible. Not to mention he had that lost puppy look about him, which would warm probably the coldest heart. But he didn't want the kid doubting his intentions. In comparison to Kyo, they would not be together long. Kyo didn't want to get too attatched to this kid. Mostly because he knew the legends of immortals and how human companionship would eventually drive them to depression because their mortal companions would die as they went on.
He reached out the kid and ruffled the kids hair lightly. He flinched for only a moment, as if Kyo was going to attack him. He drew his hand back and looked at it as it faded in an out.
"The fact remains is you are homeless now and we need to figure something out," he said staring at the floor, "Are you sure you have no where to go? If not, Im sure I can come up with something. As I said, Im here to take care of you. And I am an assasin, so I know about finding means to survive."

"I don't think i've even been out of the house for the better part of nine months. Even if I did know a place, I wouldn't anymore. I don't know my way around this town." Kenta replied with a sigh. He flopped down onto his face and rolled onto his back, entertaining himself in his poofy, blanketed form. He wiggled in a 180, so his head was closest to the angel and he was just looking up at him from the floor.
"If you know about finding means to survive..." Kenta blinked, thinking about the statement carefully. "...Then why did you die early?" Kenta smirked up at him playfully. Obviously he hadn't died of starvation, he'd probably just tryed to kill one too many people bigger than him. He couldn't have been much older than... well... he wasn't sure. "How old were you anyways? You're no old man, for sure. I'd never believe it was a /natural/ death." Kenta eyed the ghost and squiggled closer to him.
