Ren's gaze drifted up to the white haired female with a bright red face. He imagined it wasn't that way naturally, however, anyone would blush in such a position. Anyone who cared, anyways. She didn't look like the real rebellious kind. Though behind the flaming red cheeks, Ren thought that girl looked familiar. "Huh... d'joo happen to see her in any of our classes?" Ren's schedule had conveniently coincided with mithy's up until lunch. Including english class, where Ren could tell by the way mithy handled it that he'd done it just for kicks. Like... speed reading the translation passage. That had been /rather/ annoying. Considering... Ren couldn't keep up. But that girl... where had he seen someone who looked like that before? A few faces passed through his head but nothing that made him go 'aha!'. He finally broke his stare at the girl when Mithy dragged him outside, onto the grounds a few yards from the other happy bunch. The blond girl, some annoying smaller blond girl, and Hao in the tree whom the girls appeared to be ignoring. That was laughworthy. Hao only thought of himself as the sex god of the past mellenium.

Even as a child growing up in the growing civilization of Hellenes, Eris often could not take the embarassment of having dozens of eyes watching her every movement. Kaj and Ion, or even Farris, were much better at pleasing a crowd, telling jokes to smooth over an awkward moment and singing when the room quieted. The centuries had changed nothing; she still stiffened when the moment drew near for her to speak to people that she had never met and as she stood before the sea of curious onlookers, she felt as if she were about to plunge off of a lofty cliff to her death below.
"Most foreign students are welcomed here," Oichi said to the crowd. "They present themselves with the poise and dedication required to graduate from such a fine institution as our own, but some, like Ms. Fayre here, decide from the start to act as juveniles."
She bit her lip and closed her eyes, expecting the entire school to know of her tardiness, her lack of knowledge about this entire culture.
Then, she felt his hand lift part of her hair. "This," he continued, "is unexcusable."
Her hair? Was he kidding himself?
"This institution was founded long ago by men and women dedicated to education and the idea that this very school can send into the world fine, intelligent people that can finish a project and earn a living. What we have here is a pop culture outcast who has managed to come to this school either by mere luck or cheating. If you look in the mirror before coming to school and appear to be anything like Ms. Fayre here, change it. No more ridiculous dyes or piercings will be tolerated at this school."
A chuckle had started to form in her stomach, small at first, but it grew into a fit of laughter than no means of self control could contain. At first, her shoulders merely shook, but then her eyes squinted and her head was thrown back as she laughed heartily, the students slowly following in her wake just to be polite.
"But, sir," she breathed to the stunned Oichi, "This is no dye. I am European."
Genuine laughter filled the cafeteria as the students actually joined her, instantly breaking that nervousness in her chest. Pushing her roughly away, Oichi marched back toward the office, swearing to call upon the girl's parents. Eris wished him luck on that one. They had died years ago.
The excitement quickly died down as the students focused their attention on other matters that they had missed during their summer break. Some students were polite enough to acknowledge her, but she was not here to make friends with anyone. Instead, she carried her corturoy backpack outside with her, passing a small group under a tree; a small group of circus people led by a very overconfident clown.
She was about to say something sarcastic toward him when her eyes met that of Tao Ren. She stopped altogether in her tracks and her eyes widened. No....not here. Shaking her head, she continued away, wanting desperately not to believe her eyes. Yes, she had seen stranger things in the past, but what were the odds of her meeting Tao Ren here, in Japan, not with the incident in Domino City still fresh in her mind.
She settled under a smaller tree that sat in a walled area. The stone was cool on her bare legs as she unsnapped her backpack and took out her boxed fish. Since she had come here, she had tried to grow accustomed to the unique diet of those on the Japanese islands. The fish as a snack surprised her. In Hellenes, she had known the life of fishermen, but the Japanese cuisine focused almost primarily on fish. After the ordeal in the cafeteria, she didn't have the stomach to attempt this again today. Pushing the box to the edge of the stone, she offered it to a few perched birds, still keeping a discrete eye on the mysterious Tao Ren.

Mana snickered as the principle had been made a fool of. Serves him right. Even Mana had been angry of him with trying to make this poor foreign student feel like a fool. She watched her carefully, taking in the aura of nobility and wisdom that seemed to surround her. To Mana, this girl seemed nearly flawless. It was quite amazing, and yet quite annoying at the same time. She smirked when she saw the way she looked at the Tao boy.
It would seem he has quite a few fans here, she thought finishing up her sandwich, This school may be much more interesting that I had originally thought.
"Tomorrow," Mana said with her devious smirk speaking to no one in particular, "I am going to come with purple streaks in my hair. I have this problem with having a tendency to..what was he said? 'Act as a Juvenile'? I guess it is just in my nature to defy the laws of 'The Man'."
She felt a rush of excitement come upon her in this statement. Mana was known well my most English school children. Matter of fact, she was legend. She was able to pull the most insane of pranks and tricks, and the officials could never touch her. Tom, on the other hand, knew exactly what she was doing and would scold her otherwise. It was always amazing to her that he knew what she was going to do before he did it. She just smiled at this thought. Over the years, she had found a lot of love and respect to her uncle. It was the same with Mithos.
As if on cue, she immediately noticed him sitting with Ren. It made her blood boil. He was STILL hanging out with that scum? What the bloody hell was so fascinating about him. Even if he weren't Chinese, Mana would have found him grossly unattractive. He was always scowling and had an air of utter arrogance around him that suffocated her. Mithos was in the doghouse now. He would be lucky if Mana ever spoke to him again after this obvious disregard for her feelings.
"That bastard," she hissed as got up. She was going to get a cookie but not without letting him know of her anger. She made a little detour beside the place they sat and threw the paper from her sandwich at him, hitting straight in the head, and then walking into the cafeteria with a huff. That would get the message across, surely. Tom was probably going to have a very loud household tonight. It wasn't often that Mana and Mithos had serious fights, but when they did, the whole world knew. She aggressively pushed her way through the crowd, grabbed her cookie, and found her place under the tree again. She looked at them again and glared.
"I hate that cockbite," she grumbled to herself as she began to devour her cookie.

"...Excuse me a moment." Mithos said tersely to Ren as he stood up and followed his sister, pitching the screwed-up paper ball at her with a little more force than nessecary, heedless of the people who got in his way. Despite being a calm person in general, when he and Mana fought, he and Mana really went at it. He knew exactly why she was angry at him, but he wasn't having any of it today. She needed to accept the fact that he had made friends with Ren, and she needed not to judge a person just because of his heritage.
"You still haven't grown up, have you?" He hissed, drawing himself up to his full height, an impressive six feet and six inches. "You're still that little nine-year-old girl who hates with all her heart and can't even think about accepting someone for who they are. You don't see Tom hating people just because some bastards from thier country killed his brother - and he loved Gabriel just as much as you did."

Mana glared at Mithos. She felt tears burn beneath her eyes but she wasn't going to show anything to anyone else. So instead she grabbed him by the shirt and took him into a vacant hallway and then slammed him up against the locker. The tears were now sitting in the corners of her eyes.
"How dare you," she hissed out, "Of all people, I'd expect you to understand. After all, aren't YOU the one who had to bring me out of my dark hole. After working that hard, you are the one who goes and makes friend with the same people who robbed Tom and I of someone we loved? How would you feel if I went off and started hanging out with the buggers who killed off your father eh? You would be just as pissed with me. So don't you go critisizing me about this. You KNEW that I have never been very fond of the Chinese, but it is not until it benefits you do you say anything about it. Well, I'm sorry I can't be the buddy buddy perfect sister you would like me to be, but I am going to stay stedfast in my beliefs."
She released her brother from her death grip and turned her back. She could feel the sobs start to rise in her throat but she used a great deal of stregth to push them back down. Never before had she felt so betrayed. And by none other than her own brother, one of the people she trusted in her life. But to gain a handle on the emotion's that threatened to show.
"Besides," she said spinning on him with her arms crossed, "Even if he weren't Chinese I wouldn't like him very much. He's always got a scowl on his face and his aura of arrogance is smothering."

"Don't you dare tell me what to feel about my father." He hissed, then sighed heavily, suddenly exhausted. It was always the way with him and Mana. "...If you took the chance to talk to him, you'd know he's certainly got every right to be the arrogant bastard he is." He said after a moment, stepping forward and enfolding Mana in his arms with a soft sigh.
"...Marco."

Mana was just about to make a smart comment at him when he suprised her with a hug. She loved his hugs. They were like a warm blanket over her. Then, he said the word. That word that is always able to stop her in her tracks. She cursed him mentally but then relaxed with a smile and hugged him back.
"Pollo," she said with a large sigh, "Damn it all. Why do you make it impossible to stay angry at you?"
She gave him a quick kiss on the cheek before anyone could circle the corner and pulled away. She crossed her arms across her chest, trying to look intemidating. But the face he was making to her just made her laugh.
"Alright," she said, her shoulders sinking, "I will leave you two alone, but you cannot make me like him. That's just the way it is Mithos. My opinion of him will never change, but I accept that you two are friends. But only because you are my brother and I love you."
[[0____0;; How exactly? XD Also, did Loki tell you of the plan between us? Where somehow Ren and Mana get locked in a closet by Mithos? We thought that would be fun...but it would be even more fun if Mana, Ren, and Mithos got locked in a classroom or something so Mithos is in on the brawl too. XD I know Loki would spazz.]]

Eris watched with interest as numerous school supplies flew skyward toward the disgruntled Tao Ren. How unlucky of him to be the target of such bitterness at the beginning of the school year. Every student was well supplied with pencils, papers, staplers, scissors...though she had started the day roughly herself, she could not help but think that she was having a better day than the Chinese boy.
Lifting her backpack from the stone wall, she walked as casually as possible toward the boy, carrying her empty fish box.
Somehow, she was drawn to this boy. The logical part of herself reasoned that it was because she was surrounded by a world that was so unfamaliar to her that any form of recognization was welcomed. After spending centuries as an outcast, it felt good to be in the company of someone she knew....even if it was Tao Ren.
"Be glad that we are not Roman or they would be throwing stones," she said with the smallest hint of a smile playing upon her pale lips. "I am rather new to this country so," she raised her empty box in tease, "are we supposed to great each other with trash on the first day of school?"

Well that was bothersome, her voice was familiar too. Ren's gaze shifted to that overly familiar white-haired woman. It felt like... someone he hadn't seen in a long time.
"Hmph. That's just a particular racist female who seems to dislike her brother hanging out with 'the enemy'." Ren stated plainly. He couldn't remember her name, that was for sure. So if she was someone he knew, he hoped she could give it to him in the most obvious possible way. Considering he'd been such a happy, perky child during their duration together, chances were Eris herself stood a chance of not recognizing his new personality. Ren had pretty much done his best to forget his childhood, so, he could only barely recognize the face... that was exactly the same as the one in his memories.
"That would be a no. Not a general custom, not that I can say i'm anymore familiar with the traditions of these bizzare Japanese than you are. Though those two were English. I wouldn't put anything past the English."

Mithos smiled, nodding simply. "...Good. Just... Do your best not to explode every time you're near him, hmm? For me." He said, then turned to head back out, spotting Ren talking to the European girl. With a tired smile, he headed over. "Sorry about that." He apologised, then nodded in greeting to the girl. "I'm Mithos. Pleased to meet you."

Ellie raised an eyebrow as Mana returned, walking over towards the other blonde. "You two sorted it out, then?" She asked, a little concerned. "You both seemed pretty angry when you dragged him off."

Mana watched Mithos go. He really was impossible, but she loved him with all her heart. So she intended on keeping her word, but she could not guarentee her reaction should the Chinaman go and say something he shouldn't. After all, she still had her pride to keep.
She walked back to the lawn and sat next to the smaller blond, looking over to her as she spoke.
"I guess as well as can be expected," she said with a shrug as she closed her eyes and layed down, basking in the warmth of the sun, "I still hate his guts. But for Mithos, I agreed to accept their friendship and back off a little. But I swear to you, if that pointy haired shrimp start's something with me, you better damn well bet I am fighting back. *smirk*"

Memories play like a film without sound, silence accompanying the ocassional brilliant flashes as time lapsed in her mind. It would be putting too much hope in her heart for her to ever imagine Ren remembering much about their past meetings. The spark of confusion in his saffron eyes told her that her theory might be correct.
She held her hand out to him, years of grace and poise showing clearly as her fingers curled ever so slightly in a delicate fashion. "I hope that you find the Greek more trusting, Tao Ren. You trusted me before, not too long ago. I imagine that your friends know not of the pale girl Eris."
She almost took an involuntary step backward when Mithos joined her and Tao Ren. Her hand immediately left Ren's and hovered above her chest as her azul eyes studied him closely. A great deal more friendly than her dark haired acquaintance, this Mithos seemed to have an open heart and laid-back persona. It had taken her awhile to become "friends" with Ren; she didn't make them easily. Even though this boy was tempting, she could not trust him.
She rejected his head with a simple nod, "My name is Eris Fayre. Pleased as you are to meet me, I would like to someday return it to you. Even if that day isn't this one."

"Eris..." Ren thought carefully. He did remember someone, but, a foggy someone. From his youngest childhood. As much as he noticed a growing resemblance... that would make her at least 10 years older than he. And thus she stood before him, a mere highschool senior. "I'm afraid I can't recall you myself." Ren said, in a disgruntled fashion. He didn't like not knowing who in the world she was, when he was obviously expected to remember her. His golden orbs drew away from the greecian woman to look over at the approaching englishman. Mithy really was too friendly for his own good. Ren had to admit, Eris seemed like the type of person he'd make an aquaintance with. Not too trusting, nice, but not such that she would easily make friends. His type of person, really. Similar to himself, scratch the nice part.
"Your sister is right crazy, Mithy." Ren realised, it was the first time he'd even attempted to address Mithos by name, instead of just using 'you'. Somehow, he'd gone over it in his head but... he couldn't get the sound right. He just couldn't /say/ Mithos. Why replace it with a Y? It was cutesy. It fit his over-friendly nature.

Mithos smiled, nodding in understanding. Some people didn't trust easily, and he accepted that readily. "That's fine by me." He replied, then raised an eyebrow. "Mithy?" He muttered, then shook his head a little. "She's my sister." He replied, shrugging. "Of course she's crazy."

Ellie laughed shortly, shrugging. "I can understand that - He seems like a really arrogant guy. Mithos must be pretty tolerant, huh?"

"Arrogant," she said gathering her books into her bag, "that is hardly the word. But for now, I am going to mind my manners. My brother is...crazy. What more can I say?"
She threw her bag over her shoulder and began to walk away. Her eyes flicked over to the guy in the tree. He looked to be smirking at her, but why? It wasn't one of the usual looks she got from girl-crazy guys. It was different. Like an understanding. Did he know Ren? Did he feel the same way toward Ren as she? She had to wonder. But she quickly pushed it from her mind. It really wasn't her concern at the moment. She looked over to her brother once again. He had resumed his place next to the murderer and the odd looking white haired girl. She was too elegant for her own good. Kinda got on Mana's nerves. Mana continued to walk into the building and prepair for he next class, Ancient Civilizations. Joy. It sounded so boring to her. But if she skipped class, somehow Tom would find out. She couldn't take another one of his boring lectures on how skipping class "really does" affect your future.
She took out her books and skulked to the room, hoping the bell would ring soon.

Ancient Civilizations! Ai-ya! Punctuality was a virtue in this "school society" and she was about to commit a deadly sin, tardiness. This sudden thought in her head made her miss Ren's "Mithy" reference, though it would have given her a much needed chuckle if she had allowed it to be heard. Ugh! What a silly schoolgirl she was becoming!
"We have classes," she said suddenly, whipping away from them. "Tardiness is not forgiven, you know. Best be going soon or they might give us a zero! Imagine having a zero in the gradebook!" Her head bounced as her strides lengthened, taking her into the building and toward the second story where the class was held.
Japanese schools, especially the city schools, were becoming more like the ancient universities. Instead of having students seated in wooden desks like that of the older English schools, the classes were being build more like those of the Greek amphitheaters. The teacher was on the first level while the seats of the students rose before him, making the students seated in the back required to climb stairs. With these stricter schools came stricter guidelines. Eris was surprised to have been guided by a woman at the door to a seat alphabetically placed. Fayre....Tao....If Ren was in this class, she would be sitting too far away from him too recieve the benefits of famaliarity. According to the woman at the door, these seats will remain in alphabetical order until the professor knew everyone's names. Eris didn't know whether to count this as order or laziness.
When she had studied in the past, literal past, she had always enjoyed being the "know-it-all", a title that often left her unpopular among her peers. Though, it was only in the studies of stars, earth, history, music, and english that she excelled. She cared not to touch the maths or sciences. Pity. Those fields would have helped her in many occasions.
She smiled when she saw that the first chapter of the book focused on Alexander the Great. Ha! Alexander the Great's lines traced back to Eris' own ancestors. She would have liked to see if any of these students were as famaliar with this subject as she, but something was different about this text. It told about his victories and such, but she felt that much of the actual history had been left out. This was not the first time she had seen this, but when it came to Alexander the Great, it shocked her.
She was puzzling over this when she saw Mana walk toward the door. An instant angry cloud formed in her chest. Eris had gotten the impression from first glance that this girl did not like her. Covenant..., she heard the other girls whisper. A "C" name? Eris sighed. Mana's seat was directly in front of hers.

"Of course, Mithy. It suits you better." Ren would not admit that it was simply because he couldn't pronounce the end of Mithos's name, but merely nodded and insisted on calling him nothing else. He watched as Eris ran off, obviously shocked by her earlier act of tardyness. Ren could care less, he knew that if he was running behind... well, then time had better slow the hell down.
"Ancient world Civ. Is that what we've got? finally, one more period before last. D'you have kickboxing later? Maybe we did get the same schedule..." Ren pulled his out, checked, and nodded. "Indeed, I guess we've got class with your sister and that Eris girl." Ren stated it plainly, but was giving away the reason he wouldn't call him Mithos. The syllables at the ends of Eris and Mithos were almost the same... and he really wasn't saying 'Eris' all that right either. Must be something about the European names... Ren had hell with his english accent.
"Guess she's right about the late thing." Ren muttered, dumping his trash as he headed for the classroom.

Mana walked in the door and was ushered to her seat by the teacher almost immediately. She seemed to be a woman who would not put up with much. It was going to be a long class. But that didn't mean she didn't enjoy it. World cultures and history were two of her most favorite subject. Even the fact that the haughty girl sat behind her or that Ren stepped in the room didn't bother her in the slightest.
She opened her book and looked through it as if it were a manga. Mana was a history ace and loved everything about it, though she could not explained why. She guessed it was because it was a subject her father sought to engrain most of all.
"You cannot know where you are going, unless you know where you've been."
She began to read on the beginning. It was amazing. In England, they taught creation over all else. God existed in everything. The English are very religious type. God exist in all things. But here in Japan, they were open to more possibilities. Hence the beginning chapter: Religeon vs. Science, a closer look. Mana liked that. Her smile glowed as she read through the chapter and waited for class to start.

Mithos nodded with a sigh as he followed Ren to the class, ignoring the teacher's irritated babble as he slipped into his seat beside Mana with a smile. Ancient Civilisations was just a posh word for History, Mithos figured as he flicked through his textbook as if it were a novel - He'd loved the study of history as a child, and it was a love that had stayed strong as he'd grown. The class he was really looking forward to, though, was combat, later in the afternoon. Not only was it going to be interesting, it would be a good, well-needed dose of stress relief for the tall englishman.
