Ren grunted as he was interrupted from his battle with Mithy. His nails raked across the floor as he landed, a sudden angry glint in his eye. As he straightened up, he was no longer in the sporting mood he'd started with. "Insolent dog! You obviously don't see fit to beet me with honor. To interrupt a match is the greatest offense to a fighter! You have no shame. As far as your brother goes, he hadn't called uncle yet. We were still in a legitimate match. You sicken me!" Ren fumed and leaped at her with a roundhouse kick, followed by a sharp uppercut to the jaw and a barrage of swift punches. He was just about ready to grab her throat and rip out her trachea, she'd been wearing on his nerves the whole day. And to Ren, to whom fighting was everything... this was a horrible, horrible offense. His strikes were at near-full speed, which meant they failed to be visible besides a dull blur.

Mithos struggled to his feet once again, head pounding and in pain all over. Narrowing his eyes, he spat a curse, scrambling to stand between his sister and his friend. Ren was too angry to pay attention, which was enough for Mithos to capture both of his wrists. "Stop it." He hissed. "The both of you. I know my limits, Mana. From the minute we started, I knew I was losing. I am fine. Ren. If you ever speak to my sister in such a way again I will kill you." He said quietly, deadly serious. As much as Mana and Ren hated each other, he wouldn't see them fight because of him.
Ellie watched in quiet awe as Mithos stepped between the waring pair, even after being beaten down as much as he had. He must be pretty evenly matched with his sister, if not better, the girl thought as she gingerly rubbed at a quickly-forming bruise on her arm.

Mana was ready to take one of the blows. She wanted him close enough that she could drop him before he could drop her. She had bloodlust in her eyes. His words seemed to bounce off of her. They didn't matter anyway. She was ready for him.
That was when Mithos stepped in. She blinked and looked at her brother. He could barely stand and yet here he was protecting her, as she had protected him. He knew he was going to lose? That made no sense. Then there was the threat that made even her hairs stand up on the back of her neck. He...he would kill Ren for talking down to her so. This...unfortunately...pulled at her heartstrings.
She pulled her fist from Mithos's clutch. She lookeed over to Ellie who looked sympathetic, then to the sensei who looked a little dissapointed but relieved to say the least. Perhaps he knew that Mana and Ren would probably die trying to prove themselves to one another.
It would have been a grand fight though, she thought with a smirk as she turned and walked away from the pair, One day, when Mithos isn't looking, I would like to take Ren on as an opponent. He would push me to my limit, then I will see how far I've gotten and how far I need to go. One day....
She walked back over to Ellie with a smirk as she patted the girl on the shoulder and sat on the benches behind them. The whole class seemed to be watching the two boys in the center of the room with curious stares. Mana snickered and called out to Mithos in English.
"Careful brother! If you hold his hand too long, people are going to start lookin' at'cha funny."

Ren grunted and pulled his hands back from Mithos, looking away and rubbing at his wrists. He always lost his temper, and he'd already been as patient as possible with her and her racist bullshit. He knew how it felt to be so completely full of hate, but he just couldn't bring himself to cure it. He wasn't a warm person, and he didn't have that type of strength. So when he was pushed, he'd merely lash out.
"Wrteched girl, how could anyone like that even be related to Mithos." Ren muttered to himself in chinese. Those two were completely different. And he didn't understand how one could be overwhelmed with hate while the other wasn't bothered in the least. It made no sense.
"Whatever. Alrighty, Mithy, are we through then? You sound defeated. I can find myself another partner, if you wish." Ren gave him a flat look, not entirely amused with his little death threat.

Mithos nodded simply, to weary for anything else. "Yeah." He said, then cast a glance over his shoulder and laughed. "Like you and your girlfriend, no doubt!" He called back in English, grinning as he strode over, sitting himself down on a bench and rubbing the back of his neck. Good thing this was the last lesson, he thought to himself. He felt like he needed to go and lie down in a nice quiet room for a while.

Mana glared daggers then looked away.
"You know as well as I that's not even true," she said then looked at him with a smirk, "Besides, you are the one who makes it more clear than I. Of course I still don't get what you see in an arrogant bastard such as him. Whatever suits you, I guess."
She didn't even look at Ellie with that comment. She didn't want to see the look on her face. Mithos's little accusation might have made her react differently toward Mana. Not that Mana cared. Mithos would pay for that little comment...sometime....But for now. Mana was just anxious for class to be done with so she could go home.

"I'm afraid that, unless you plan to remain in high school for another year, you will be needing some sort of physical class before you graduate. Your schedule is all academic classes, I'm afraid," said a rather stern looking secretary who held her schedule before her face.
It had surprised her greatly when she had been removed from the European History class that she had been taking on the first day of school. Just when she had thought that she would take a class in the absence of that annoying group at the cafetaria court yard, this secretary wanted her to choose another class, giving her the unfortunate chance of meeting them again.
Eris sighed, "I am not fat and I assure you that I exercise more than any student in your school." This was perfectly true. Being a "hired hand" did wonderfully pleasing things to the body. There seemed to not be a trace of fat on her entire frame.
The secretary then made a sound that would annoy Eris even in her sleep. Tsk. Tsk. At first, Eris thought that it might have been the late summer air trying to squeeze itself through the nearly closed window, but then the secretary shook her head and repeated the noise. It took a lot of self control to shut Eris from shuttering in irritation.
"I don't know what it is with your generation and thinking that you know everything," she said as she flipped through Eris' records. "It makes me wish that I was young again. I mean, most people wish to die and inherit the divine wisdom, but you, oh you, you seemed to have been born with it. I admire you." Her sarcasm made Eris' eyebrow twitch.
"Fit or not, Miss Fayre, this school treats everyone fairly. You are to take the same required classes as everyone in this school. You are not special. You are not unique. You are the same mold as everyone here. Understand me?"
Eris gave a short nod.
"Alright then. Now, all of the regular gym classes are not scheduled to run during the last period. Sorry, we cannot change that for you. However, there are two physical classes that do run during the last period of the day; Intro to Kickboxing and Kickboxing."
A smile played upon the secretary's face, "Unfortunately, the Intro to Kickboxing class is filled with the freshman and junior students. There is no equipment for an extra student. Being a senior, you will be allowed to skip the Intro class and go straight into the main class."
She chuckled, "I will be placing you there. We will see how far your attitude gets you amongst those students."
Yes...that is what happened. That was why she was currently standing the the doorway watching that annoying group from the cafetaria courtyard, desperately not wanting to enter the classroom.

Mana took a towel and put it around her shoulders. The rest of the class resumed as normal and unfortunately that stunt took no extra time what so ever. Mana took a drink from her water bottle and grimmaced when the snooty looking girl stood in the dooway.
Just what is her problem anyway. She acts as if she is better than all of us. That irritates me only slightly more than Ren does.
The sensei had gone over to the girl. He sized her up a bit and only smiled kindly. This girl had a firey look in her eyes as well, but also one of infanate wisdom, not a huge trait recognized in most of his students. This was going to be a very interesting group indeed.
"The secretary told me you were coming," the sensei told her, "It is a pleasure to meet you Ms. Fayre. If you do not have a suit for this class, you will find extra ones in the girls locker room. Welcome to our school and this class. I look forward to seeing what you can do. Go ahead and get suited up."
And with that he walked away. Mana watched carefully as he walked away. She decided to solve this problem here and now. She walked up to the fair haired beauty.
"So what's your deal," she said crossing her arms in front of her, "You always act as if you are better than anyone else, so I'm dying to know. What is it about you that makes you better than anyone else here?"

"Oh come off it." Ren felt the need to intrude on their conversation. He'd been heading towards Eris since she appeared in the doorway, anyways, Mana had just beat him to the punch. He was out one sparring partner, and he figured that european girl was his best bet. She'd just given him that feeling when they were together at lunch. Of course, she'd also acted a little too familiar, which already gave him cause to wonder about her. It wasn't just obnoxious familiarity... it was as if they'd actually met before. So of course, Ren still wanted a few answers from her.
"Really, what gives you any right to ask that? There could be five thousand reasons she feels above you, or maybe she doesn't and you're just so totally closed-minded that you seem to think she's against you. The point is that she acts as she does. Such an inquisition is demanding access into someone's personal history. Stop being so familiar." Ren's arms were folded as he stared her down. That was such a rude question, really. Considering she didn't even know Eris at all. Mana seemed to be queen of making assumtions and demanding some answers from them. That really toasted Ren, since this was the second person today, to Ren's knowledge, to whom she hadn't given a single chance. All Ren knew was that Eris so far, had been rather kind to Ren, and he felt oblidged to return the favor. If she knew him as he indeed suspected, then it took real strength to be kind and cool to a Tao. Another reason that he respected Mithy.

"Although your appearance does reflect a certain femanine quality Tao," Mana said in an irritated voice, "I do believe I asked Eris a question, not you. Now I know you feel the need to be center of attention all the time and it kills you to not be, but could you drop your ego for about five seconds and let me continue a converstion with this woman? Your ego really is quite smothering."
Mana hated being interrupted. She also hated being made too look as a fool. Her question may have come off a little rude to begin with, and she was willing to make a complete apology had she been wrong. But there was something odd about this girl that bothered Mana. Something she couldn't put her finger on.
"I do apologize if my question was too straight forward or rude," Mana said looking back to Eris," But there is something about you that strikes me...unique. It just seemed to me that you thought very highly of yourself and I apologize in my observations if my hypothesis is wrong. I just want to know who you are, really...if only your formal name."

Mithos watched from the sidelines with his head in his hands, the blinding headache taking it's toll already. Ellie sat beside him with a small smile and placed a hand on his shoulder. "You should go and see the nurse or something." She said, watching Mana and Ren carefully. "I'm fine." Mithos replied quietly.

They bickered non-stop, as if there wasn't anything more interesting or captivating enough in this bustling city. It had been awhile since Eris had been exposed to the hostle atmosphere of teenagers and high schools. She had remembered the jealousy and bitterness, but never had been at its center. Really, she found it very amusing.
"Mana, isn't it?" she said, addressing the loud girl. "I do have a certain esteem about myself, yes, but I will stop myself from revealing exactly how much esteem I allow myself to possess. This secret will remain mine as long as I keep my mouth shut. You, on the other hand, are much easier to read. You are a book to which I may open at my leisure and peer into your thoughts. You think that I think highly of myself. Well, wouldn't I have a reason to? Think of this logically, Mana-chan, I must be something extraordinary if, on my first day at a new school and in a new country, I have attracted the attention of your entire group and even have earned myself a protector." She gave a nod of appreciation toward Ren before again facing Mana. Her feet pivoted slightly as she side-stepped the pest of a creature and made her way to the locker room so she could find a spare uniform to borrow. Remembering something, she jogged merrily up to Mana and whispered, "That being said, I think that I would the greater of the two of us, no?"
She couldn't stop the smile from appearing as she walked into the locker room.

Mana gave a small glare. That was what bugged her most about Eris. She was right. There was no responding to that without sounding completely immature and therefore verifying her observations furthur. So she just let her walk off. Instead she looked at Ren.
"It really is amazing," she said, " I never thought you could care for anyone but yourself. Meh. But to be called her protector...kinda makes me a little nausious. It would seem that you have an admirer. Gross."
She walked off. She had had about enough. She did not care to be made a fool of and she did not like the fact that she was probably the loudest in the room. Mana had always made a habit of expressing herself and never really had it mocked until now. Most people both liked and hated the fact that she said what she thought when most would stew in their curiosity. She, too, went in the locker room, but right past Eris. She did not care to have another encounter with her...at all. Matter of fact, she already hated this school. She wanted so badly to kick in some locker doors and scream, but she really didn't need that kind of attention.
She showered quickly, put on her uniform, putting her hair back up in it's usual high ponytail, and left the locker room with her bag. She went up to the sensei.
"I think I have proved well enough what I am capible of today," she said with a little glare still on her face, "I would like to be excused to the library for an assignement for the rest of the class please."
The sensei only nodded with a wise smile. Mana nodded and left for the library. Burried amongst books was the only place she felt safe when away from home. It was something her father had engrained into her mind. Meanwhile, Sensei watched as Eris came out of the locker room. She looked poised and confident. She seemed to have a natural ablility to cause harm without lifting a finger. If she had this much non-physical impact....
"Ren," he said, "Are you feeling tired? I want to see what Ms. Fayre can do, if it is alright with the both of you. Do either of you mind?"

Ren rolled his eyes as Mana passed him by, and otherwise ignored her. She just got shut down in a big way, and it was obvious she was hurting. It was enough to make him want to laugh. Of course, Ren didn't laugh, and therefore refrained from laughter, as he headed over to the sensei who was reassigning him. Fight Eris? He didn't even have to ask. Of /course/ he wanted a match against her. She appeared to be, perhaps, the second best fighter in this room. Ren just wanted to confirm that. He was quite sure she wouldn't dissapoint.
"Nonsense, of course i'm not tired. Face Fayre in a fight? Sounds... easy enough. Of course, assuming she is just as willing to face myself." Ren smirked. "You have a sharp tongue, but can you back up your words?"

[[ I suppose that the sensei is a character that anyone can use. I am just using him in the beginning. Mana can take him over, as he will be our referee. ]]
Any form of regret regarding the complete and utter deterioration of the obnoxious Mana Covenant was quickly forgotten as Eris was jogging into the main room of the class. Her white hair swung behind her as she sported the dark shorts and tank associated with kickboxing. Her face made her look strangely out of place among the others, even with the uniform.
"I am sure that you would have learned some sort of martial arts at your old school," Sensei said with a warm smile as she neared the other students.
Martial arts? Yes, she has learned her fair share of martial arts, mainly Shotokan, but she had touched on some basic kickboxing formulas.
"Shotokan", she said confidently as she saw Mana leave the classroom. "As far as kickboxing, I only know Muay Thai."
Sensei nodded, "Perform your Muay Thai for us." Eris was about to protest before he added, as if reading her thoughts, "Don't worry about your Pra Jiad or Mong Kon."
Eris searched eagerly for her opponent, expecting to be paired with another female from the class, hoping hard that Mana would suddenly be called into the practice ring. Imagine her surprise when Sensei turned to a boy, "Step forward, Tao Ren."
Ren?!! Her main ally in this school of gossip-mongrels was to be paired with her in a competition that, in her experience, ended in the defeat of the other. Make Tao Ren draw blood? Where's Mana? She would have much rather forced her into a deadly submission.
"Do you accept the challenge, Fayre Eris?"
Her competitive part of her drove all thoughts of friendship from her mind. From this moment until the bell that ended the class, Tao Ren was an enemy. "Yes, Sensei."
The school's gloves smelled strongly of some sort of cottage cheese scent, but Eris took no mind to them and slowly slid them onto her usually graceful hands as if they were the gloves of the best Japanese Nak Su. She might have been a Nak Muay to those of the professional fighting world, but she would show Ren and the others her potential of becoming the school's female Nak Su.
She smoothly began the Wai Kru, something that Ren would not have been familiar with due to his Chinese heritage. She had been trained to circle the ring once, to seal the ring, but she doubted that Ren would allow her to do this. Keeping her eyes locked on him, she circled, her back always to the outside of the ring and her front facing him. During this circling, most Nak Muay would perform some sort of motions to imitate a hawk, swallow, executioner, etc. Eris saw no reason in playing a part for she knew that Ren was not a boy to be easily frightened. After her circle was completed, she extended her gloved right hand toward Ren, awaiting his tap of acceptance before the match could begin. Being such a trained Nak Muay, she even lowered her face and eyes to humble herself before him.
[[ Guess who is a Japanese culture buff? ^___^ Ren is going to be so confused. ]]

Ren raised a brow. European girl imitating Japanese style fighting? Whatever floated her boat. Ren would stick with what he'd been taught and what he'd learned himself. If she was going to make it an official match, then he'd do the same. He gave her an honorable bow, before tapping her glove with a smirk and taking a stance. Arms crossed in front of him, hands flat like blades ready to cut. He didn't care for her form, but if she was out to confuse him he'd just do the same. Dao Dan Do, the chinese missile form, something Ren had learned from the only... existing... master and maker of it. Ren could hardly call him the only /living/ master.
"Go ahead, first strike is yours. Let's see if you can even keep the offensive."

His actions made her grow slightly angry. It seemed as if he was mocking her form. The urge to roll her eyes was strong, but she didn't want to end her locked gaze toward her opponent. She never went first in fights; she hated to do so. She much rather would have wanted to take a half-step back and allow her opponent to move first, so she could calculate a counter-strike. Still, he was the challenger, so he made the rules. She also highly doubted the Sensei would disagree to the female going first.
"Sok and Kao," she whispered as every muscle in her body tensed, ready to perform whatever command her mind would give them. She felt lighter, as if she was barely touching the mat.
An outright kick assault would be foolish as this stage, she reasoned with herself. There was a desire to run toward him and deliver the multiple attacks associated with her true martial art, Shotokan, but she minded her Muay Thai training. Kickboxing was very different from the swifter Shotokan.
Her leg muscles flexed as she steadied rocked left and right, not allowing Tao Ren to calculate her intended direction. Eyes locked into his, she never wavered. She used her peripheral vision to seek a target area, her eyes seeming to go slightly out of focus as she searched. Alas, she found her destination and moved quickly.
She ran toward him, gripping her hands around the back of his neck to put him in a clinch hold. Since he never studied Muay Thai, she guessed that he probably would have been surprised by this move, but she had her reasons. This hold allowed her to raised her knee to hit the soft area of his side. As he struggled, she let him push her away, delivering an elbow strike to his eyebrow. In Muay Thai, she had been taught to first strike her opponent above the eye and to keep striking there until blood flowed. She had hoped that her hit was hard enough to draw blood and allow it to hinder his vision. After her initial attack, she quickly formed the wall of defense, the typical defensive moment of Nak Muay.

Ren caught the elbow strike, cusioning it with his palm firmly in place between his eye and her elbow. Just because it was something he'd never studied didn't mean he couldn't anticipate it. He'd be an absolute weakling if that were true. He'd faced people from all over the world- there was very little he hadn't seen done. It was proof of a real master when you could anticipate any strike- no matter how strange.
Since she'd formed her own personal wall, he'd just have to use a strike that would go over, and veritably break down said wall, despite how figurative said wall was. He used a Dao-dan strike, closing whatever space remained between them and then jumping, with enough power and hight to bring down the heel of his foot on the crown of her head, with great momentum and speed. His other foot was crouched below him as he decended, prepared for whatever landing she'd give him.

His quick block of her initial attack impressed her. This boy was so young, yet he knew how to correctly respond to an assault. The counter that he performed aided him, but also harmed him. Eris had already begun to learn his patterns. Soon, she would figure out how to put him into a position that he could not counter.
Until then, there was still a battle to be fought. As soon as Ren's lithe body left the mat, her upper body already began to position itself for a defensive block. The Muay Thai wall of defense taught her where her body could take a hit without suffering too much damage. Since he was aiming for her upper head, she lifted her arm, exposing the solid bone of her forearm. She knew that since he would land on his foot, there would be a chance for him to injure it. She also knew that she was not strong enough to fully take his stronger weight. When he went to land, she thrusted her arm outward, attempting to send his body in the same direction. It was only after he landed on the mat that she shook her arm to rid herself of the tingle that came with the blow. The boy had some momentum behind that kick.
Her mind spoke quickly to her, He isn't fighting in the normal Muay Thai (or any type of kickboxing, for that matter) style. His form is kickboxing mixed with some sort of elegant martial art that I am not famaliar with. I should attempt some Muay Boran, but those moves are illegal in this century. The teacher may become suspicious of me. Muay Thai will not work. I will be able to defend myself with it, but I will not be able to move to an offensive attack. I cannot hold out with Muay Thai defense until the bell. His kicks are too strong. Sensei......if Ren is allowed a different form, than I must be allowed as well.....Shotokan.....That is my preferred art. I remember my first Shihan, my master teacher. Shihan Kiochi said that Shotokan masters appear to be made of not solid material, but of air. They could weave between all attacks in a charm-like dance. One only had to know the dance of the opponent.
Straight away, she dropped her Muay Thai stance and fell into the zenkutsu dachi, the front stance of a Shotokan warrior. Her legs spread, one forward and one back, to support her frame and her right fist rested at her side as her elbow bent. She remembered her teachings. A Shotokan warrior had the power to stop a beating heart. With one swift punch near the underarm, she could take his breath away. She had no intention of delivering such a blow, but she was through trying to play the part of a Nak Muay when she could be sempai of Shotokan.
Shotokan had a saying of "there is no first move in karate". Obeying this, she took two heavy steps forward, still keeping the poise of her stance, and swiftly moved toward Tao Ren. Her knees bent, her full weight resting on them as her mind wandered to the higher levels of the school, where she wanted her body to be. Her body obeyed and practically flew, flipping over Tao Ren and landing softly behind him. Flinging the gloves from her hands, she performed the Oi Tsuki, a stepping punch that focused the full momentum of her body into a single, targetted area. She had aimed for the weakest part of his back, the kidneys.
